Chronicle Books recently launched two new "pre-chapter" book series that are perfect for young independent readers to read on their own. Charlie and Mouse and the upcoming Barkus (coming out in June) are published in familiar hardcover and feature short chapters and lots of fun pictures that kids will love. Both books have such engaging stories to help along new readers. I love the format -- the perfect mix of increased word count and large pictures. The sentence structures are short and easy to follow with large type for young readers. Featuring lots of sight words that young readers are... Continue reading

Sago Mini brings their familiar animal characters (bunny, cat, dog and bird) to life in Sago Mini Town ($2.99 at Apple App Store | Google Play). Sago Mini town is a buildable town that kids can make their own. I love the endless open play that young kids can not only work on creatively building themselves but also having fun at it at the same time. There are four unique locations with backdrops for kids to choose from. But they can build just about anything no matter which location they choose. Want a beach in your city? Go for it!... The game is all about open ended free play and you can move people around from room to room. Chloe loves this game so much and was doing her own... Continue reading

I've been really enjoying my bullet journal and journaling/sketching more regularly. I purchased these Kuretake ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Watercolor Pens ($61.89 on Amazon) last year and these are my go to brush pens for coloring and decorating my journal. I love Japanese pens and these do not disappoint! I have limited space in my condo and it's always hard for me to get out all my watercolor supplies when I want to get artsy.
