Since today is Halloween, I thought it would be interesting to go back in time to discover 7 memorable scary moments in social media. Chrysler’s Twitter account accidentally drops the F-Bomb. The happy ending here is that the account gained more followers. Kenneth Cole's Tweet to promote his fashion line causes angry reactions. The Woman who Blasted her former boss on Facebook. In return, she got a pink slip. Surfing on Facebook while sick. There is no shortage of stories of folks being fired for blogging. Here's one: I was fired for blogging. The iPod at a Decade
Its hard to believe, but on this date 10 years ago, the iPod was launched. It has not only changed the way we listen and consume music, but also if you have an iPod Touch, the way we do other things as well. I remember finally getting my first iPod. Its not because I blogged about it. It was a week before a VIP family event and the family hasn't been the same since. H/T to the COO for spotting this. She has really been working overtime this weekend. Continue reading

One Web Day, Half a Decade Later
Five years. That's how long its been since I posted about One Web Day. The themes for this year's event have helped me professionally and personally. A lot has happened in 5 years. We are able to communicate, collaborate and work like we haven't done before, and the wheels are still turning. How I'd acknowledged One Web Day? For a moment, I stepped out of my box of everyday. I shared and contributed. I provided recommendations to friends and colleagues online. The best part? The day's not over yet? How are you celebrating One Web Day? Continue reading

Mobile Monday, August 29th 2011
via fastcompany.com Being based on the East coast, if I wasn't able to use mobile text messaging over this past week with everything that went down, I don't know what I would have done. The Fast Company article, Text Messages Aren't Enough When Natural Disaster Strikes explores how social media has become a part of communications during a disaster. Speaking of texting, Blackberry is still "in the hotseat" in its role in the riots. How Blackberry, not Twitter fueled the London riots http://eu.techcrunch.com/2011/08/08/how-blackberry-not-twitter-fuelled-the-fire-under-londons-riots/ To end on a lighter note. As we said earlier, more recruiters are using Facebook & other social media to look for candidates. Deciding on a Book, and How to Read It via @nickbilton for NYTimes
One of the things about taking a vacation is deciding what books to bring. Today, the choice are made more cumbersome with the question of medium and device.
