I Love the challenge during the tiebreak ! It turned the tide for Monfils who was struggling until then.
I'm sad i won't be able to see Simon vs Djokovic.
And good job by the french supporters in Belgrade, they really were behind our guy !

by Pete Bodo I must admit, I'm still perplexed by France's decision to play Gilles Simon in the second singles slot in tomorrow's Davis Cup opener against Serbia's Novak Djokovic. In my eyes, this has given the Serbs an enormous advantage, but who knows—it may turn out to be one of the more ...
looking good for France right now ! Monfils can sometimes be irritating when he just push the ball over the net, but Tipsarevic looks really tense !
It will soon be 1 point for France !

It's out ! the first day Tipsarevic will play in single against Monfils while Troicki is in the double. Simon against Djoko. Double : Llodra/Clément vs Zimonjic/Troicki.
One word : logical.
Looking forward to it !
Tipsy on the Cusp
by Pete Bodo Novak Djokovic put it best in London, while trying not to think too much about this week's Davis Cup final as he played out his regular-season string at the World Tour Finals. He said that the Davis Cup finals were a preoccupation because he didn't honestly know when he, or Serb...
Hi ! According to the french sports newspaper "L'équipe", Gilles Simon is the one to play against Djokovic. The idea is to preserve Llodra for the double (with Clément it seems) and for the decisive single against the Serbian n°2.
I think it's a good decision by Forget. Simon is more likely to tire Djokovic for his sunday match against Gael Monfils. As the surface is slower than Bercy, it's not sure that Llodra could match Djokovic returns. So the safe choice to me.
Allez les Bleus !

"Given the chauvinism of the French, they would be over the moon in any event with the performances Monfils and even Llodra have put in this week"
Don't forget that we put a lot of of hope for our four musketeers (MOnfils, Simon, Tsonga, Gasquet, you could now add Llodra), but that so far, results have not been as good as we could have expected.
It's been since Yannick Noah that a Frenchman last won a Grand Slam, almost 30 years ! I'm a 22 Frenchman and i've never seen a compatriot win a really big tournament. So it's only natural that we cheer a lot for our guys ! I think that the Americans would behave exactly like us should they experience the same long time of scarcity (don't know if it's the right word but you get the meaning)...
One-Court Glory
by Pete Bodo Are you all done hyperventilating? Robin Soderling and Gael Monfils have added an interesting coda to what has been the finest fall of ATP tennis in recent memory, which is only fitting because neither player played a prominent role in the proceedings on the Asian hard-court stret...
as a fellow Frenchman I'm as pleased with la Monf's victory than i was sad with Mika's earlier defeat. Hope he wins tomorrow, i'll be there to support him (look out for a madman with a french banner) !
I would like to stress that to me, the Frenchmen are everything but clay specialists. We actually have a small amount of clay courts in France in comparison to Spain or Belgium. In fact, we are more used to play on hard courts and most of all, indoor fast courts.
Anyway, it's a really good sign for the upcoming Davis Cup final ! It has been a while since we last won it.
Allez la Monf', Vive les bleus !
Paris: Monfils d. Federer
Oops, he did it again. For the fourth time this season, Roger Federer has lost a match in which he held a match point. It happened at Indian Wells (against Marcos Baghdatis), Miami (against Tomas Berdych), the U.S. Open (against Novak Djokovic) and now the Paris Indoors, against Gael Monfils. ...
