If it wasn't clear from the post, Bob is "a friend running around NY going to each restaurant getting menus for Grubhub. He's not interested in an hourly wage, and wants equity to stay motivated to do that, but he's working part time (He's read your work full time post, and isn't willing to quit b-school yet). You grant him equity based on relative value he's bringing to the company, and decide to give him 10% equity with vesting over time."
