it's bitterly cold here today, this blustery day, but the sun is out and the river is beckoning. i've been sitting at the laptop for five straight hours, editing photos, freezing in my one immobile spot. i hear you, river!... Continue reading

just a little monday evening gift of a river marble for you to see - something that caught my eye because the blue and the yellow and the spot of red were not the colors that surrounded them. half buried... Continue reading

finally, some of the affirmations i have been hammering into sterling silver have landed in my etsy shop. i've also assembled a few more of the "prologue" necklaces, worn beautifully alone or with one of my pendants - or even... Continue reading

nor has she left your side. i promise you that. our thanksgiving around mama's round kitchen table (the only table now) was very small: mama, me, my sister and her husband, my best friend julie who drove down from ohio to here and then on to alabama with me. traditions can be made when they are brand new. daddy's place was missed, but we carried on, and mama and i - as ever - loved sharing with one another our memories of him, early and late. oh, friend. i miss the days of visiting online, of reading group list entries,of teaching an art class to someone i revere. deepest sigh. and who, again, did the lovely painting? i can't recall, but i do remember your getting it a few years back. it is so so so lovely and comforting. sending you love - xo

your mother loves you for who you are, precisely that. she loves you more now than ever. she is around, you know that. the physical limits are gone. i have a photo of daddy up on the mantel, where i see it all evening, and i blow kisses to him and talk to him quietly, and if walter thinks i am crazy, that is okay too. i would love to say it gets easier but you already know the answer to that. it doesn't get easier - just different, and softer. maybe that is called grace. something your mother taught you, something you have and radiate. sending so much love. xo
