The fires of my hope are heavily, heavily banked. I'm still raw from the Election Day roller-coasters of 2000 and 2004; if Obama gets more votes today, I don't think I'll feel like he's "won" until I've heard McCain concede, I've heard Bush acknowledge him as the next President, and I've seen him take the oath. But that's just me.

My son is two years old, and THIS was supposed to be the year that I got to pick his Halloween costume. But my wife wouldn't let me dress him as a cute little horsey, because she knew that, in my mind, he would be Bad Horse.

"... we had the Raiders for awhile, but fuck the Raiders." Now THAT is a a disturbing and poetic display of beautiful violence.

I'm right there with you on "Money For Nothing" and "Thriller", but the third video of my own personal Triad of Awesomeness is "Land of Confusion".

I have a two-year-old son, and I am making it my mission to expose him to as much (and as wide an array) music as I can as early as possible. Once I've updated his firmware to include a really eclectic mix of music, he'll be much better able to seek out new music for himself, instead of relying on record store guys. Either that, or he'll realize that I'm right about everything and we'll just hang out and listen to old Marvin Gaye albums. Either way, I end up happy.

It didn't occur to me until this year that Pi Day and Steak and a BJ Day were on the same date.

I'm going to play devil's advocate: Just as the government's vague warnings about attacks don't change the fact that they are doing some truly unforgivable things to our country... the fact that the government is doing unforgivable things doesn't change the fact that an attack might be attempted. I'm not sure that came out right. Let me try again: Look, let's be careful out there, okay? Don't do something stupid as a knee-jerk reaction against the government. Chertoff saying that he has a "gut feeling" isn't a good enough reason to barricade ourselves in our homes, but it's also not a reason to start dismantling metal detectors.

I have a four-month-old son. I'm bloody sick and tired of seeing sunrises; I miss being woken up by sunlight through the bedroom window, not the screams of a hungry baby.

Is the dude on the left wearing an Izzy Alcantara jersey? If so, then you should be happy he didn't know you were crushing his head, or you might have gotten a karate kicked

"...I figured that being able to take a rusty nail without fear until I'm forty-three years-old was good enough." Dude, you should still fear rusty nails. Cause they hurt, no matter how many tetanus shots you've had.
