I also really love this. The block lettering... the orange... the small accents... Is it embroidered on linen?
What a sweet and thoughtful gift and mantra.
Friday Night Lights embroidery
I've had Friday Night Lights on the brain recently, and by recently I mean ever since I discovered this amazing show right through to last week's series finale. So I suppose it's no surprise that when I wanted to send a dear friend some words of encouragement, I turned to Coach Taylor's motto: ...
Dawn, I am so glad the plant is thriving! My peony plants are not doing as well- too shady a spot, I think.
This week in the garden: The most wonderful time of the year
Oh, joy. The peonies are here, and they are bountiful. My friend Janelle gave us this peony as a housewarming gift three years ago, and it has grown exponentially -- literally, 2 blooms the first year, 4 the second, and 16 gorgeous blooms this year. (This peony likes patterns and structure, j...
First of all, this is adorable. Second- a question. Whenever you did the blocking on other projects, it drastically changed the shape/look of the finished product. But in the Janey pullover, I don't really see much of a difference between the blocking before and after. Why is that?
Finished project: Janey Pullover by Melissa Jean
It feels so good to finish things, doesn't it? In the last couple of crazy weeks, I've mostly been working away on the Awedeous hat (thanks for the title suggestion, Lisa Marie!), because it's easy to pick up and put down, but I was happy to find a few minutes this week to finish the Janey pull...
I am glad you showed the shaping at the top of the hat. I think that is my favorite part.
I am loving all the recent projects. Amazing.
Radio frequency hat
I love this hat (the radio frequency hat from Mandy Powers' The Red Collection). I don't want to take it off, which is a problem, because it's a gift. I really like the way these colors work together, but I think the hat's true genius comes from the fact that it can look so different, depend...
Zach says "it looks like an acorn!" I say "an adorable acorn."
So sweet.
World's tiniest hat for a perfect baby girl
A dear friend of ours just had her baby much earlier than expected. Happily, mom and baby are doing fine, but I wanted to send a little something to say how much they are in my thoughts. Ravelry to the rescue. I found this pattern by Carissa Browning (it comes in sizes small enough for a 2 pou...
Also- this cowl is gorgeous. I am loving the gray tones. When I was younger, I had once decided that I was only going to buy clothes in gray, white, pink and black. Then everything would match. Obviously, I have since embraced a full range of colors, but I love that the gray spectrum you've been working in would fit into that long idolized wardrobe.
Serafina cowl
I was really attracted to the modern feel of the Serafina cowl by Carrie Bostick Hoge for Quince & Co, and I decided to make it for my friend Brigid's birthday. It's hard to capture just how awesome it is in person. Here's my friend Melissa acting as model (Annie wanted to get in the picture, ...
Cowl question- how tight are cowls supposed to be around your neck? I have a variety and they all vary. I always thought of cowls as replacements for scarves, but none of my currrent cowls are as tight as an actual scarf is... the loosest ones feel less warm and have a harder time fitting under my coat. Any thoughts? Do cowls come in sizes, per se?

I love legwarmers! Sign me up for one of each. :)
Ravelry roundup: Leg warmers
There are lots of 80s trends that will never be redeemed. Neon colors and one-shoulder sweaters, I'm looking at you. Happily, leg warmers are one fad that's even better the second time around. Around this time of year, I always find myself wishing for something fun to brighten the last few weeks...
I have received many, many compliments on this scarf, and people especially want to know 1) where they can buy the wooden butttons, and 2) if you painted them yourself (or if they come in different colors).
Finished Project: Buttoned Scarf
I made this for my friend Janelle (of O Chickadee). She always has great hair, so I wanted something she could button, instead of pulling over her head. It turned out the buttons were my favorite part! The scarf is made from Lion Brand Thick and Quick in an easy combination of a seed stitc...
