I completed my first 5K on Memorial Day this year. My goals were to finish in an hour and run as much as possible. I started the race running and I ended the race running and I ran some in the middle -- and I finished in 55 minutes. Not... Continue reading

It is exactly one mile. Couple of things. a. I thought it would be further, don't know why, wishful thinking. b. So, the very slowest you are allowed to complete one mile in the Half Marathon is a 16 minute mile...I can get up from my desk, walk out of... Continue reading

Walked up 8 flights of 11 stairs each, walked across the parking structure, and down 8 flights of 11 stairs each. Didn't feel much until the last flight up. (Need to start thinking about what I will do next when the stairs don't hurt anymore) Walked the city block of... Continue reading

Walked up 8 flights of 11 stairs each, walked across the parking structure, and down 8 flights of 11 stairs each. Didn't feel much until the last two flights up. Walked the city block of my work. Remembered on my walk today that I was going to clock the distance.... Continue reading

Walked up 8 flights of 11 stairs each, walked across the parking structure, and down 8 flights of 11 stairs each. I suppose this was a good warm up; I'm pretty sure my legs and lungs thought it was torture, but only momentarily and it felt awesome I then walked... Continue reading

Some how I think if I have this blog and I have to post a gain rather than a loss that I will be motivated to behave differently in the eating category. Nope. I am sure that I will be posting a gain tonight and that it will be pretty embarrassing that I can't get my act together and yet I change absolutely nothing of my habits or choices. And in fact went to Trader Joe's Monday evening for pears and bananas and also bought soy ice cream and orange chicken for dinner. So, that's pretty much my story in... Continue reading

I was watching Grey's Anatomy this afternoon. The Grey girls dad was talking about alcoholism. He said that when he would do really well not drinking he would reward himself with a drink. Then another character, not sure which, said that was the disease of alcoholism. What ever that disease is, I have it. When I do really well eating healthy or participating in a little exercise, I then believe I deserve a reward in the form of food, usually sweet but sometimes savory. I must research this concept, or disease, if that is what it is labeled. Sounds so... Continue reading

I am over it. I ordered a chicken sandwich at lunch today, no fries, intentionally, so I wouldn't eat them and then the gal at the restaurant brought out the chicken sandwich with fries. She said, "Oh, fries for you today, you so nice and wait so patient. You like?" Well, duh, not too many people in the world that look like me that don't like french fries. I smiled and thanked her because the hospitality and gesture was so kind and then looked at my plate, slumped my shoulders and said to myself, "Self, try not to eat them."... Continue reading

So...let's start with a bit of a chuckle, because if I don't laugh I'll cry, and I don't feel like crying right now. I was so crazy frustrated with the day, the conversations of the day (or lack there of), and I was pretty low inside and I ate the rest of the ice cream. Yep, I did. There it is. Oh, wait, had a chicken burrito from Taco Bell for dinner too. Was running crazy late for class and pulled a drive thru and then just blech... So, I tanked for the evening. I did get up and start...
