I thought I was the last person on earth to buy Cookie A's Knit.Sock.Love. A beautiful book full of 19 gorgeous sock patterns that was released probably 2 years ago. I searched Ravelry towards the end of last year and sadly found that any KALs (knit-a-longs) had long since finished.... Continue reading

It would seem that I have been well and truly bitten by the sock knitting monkey and have spent most of this year knitting my way through Alice Yu's lovely book, Socktopus. You will probably remember I joined her Sock Club at the end of last year and simply can't... Continue reading

I promise I have been busy knitting to make up for being remiss at typing. The Knit Love Sock club has been a fantastic 'look forward' to and I have managed to finish each of the April sock patterns. The Tideway and Merrivale were Alice's April's offering and very lovely... Continue reading

I hate throwing things away. I just can't bear it. There's always a chance that It could be useful at some point in the future and I will be Very Glad that I didn't get rid of it. Knitting just makes my hoarder nature worse. I have never used up... Continue reading

Image courtesy of neichan Remember when you were little and birthdays always seem to take forever to come round again? Then you get older and you wish that they didn't come round such as often! I'm now at that age when I'm nearer to 40 than 30 and naturally everyone... Continue reading

Thanks Lorraine - that's very kind of you to say so! If dpn's aren't for you, do try knitting using the magic loop method which essentially uses one long circular needle. It's great because you don't have worry about stitches falling off or losing a dpn (which I do, a lot!) making the rest of the set redundant! Be warned though, once you're hooked, that's it. One pair of hand knitted socks is never enough!

I think you should be able to get yarn on prescription with all its health providing properties! ;)

I joined Socktopus' Knit Love Club as a little Christmas treat to myself and I am such a happy knitter having done so! I've knitted lots and lots of things over the years and I love the challenges that knitting presents even after years of doing, principally, the same thing.... Continue reading

Oh no! I suffered from that last year and it's so awful. Unfortunately rest and some physio was the only thing that helped me and I'm still a bit nervous about hurting it again. It's like my hand and wrist has a pain memory that it can't forget. Good to hear you're still hanging in there though and I'm not talking to myself like a crazy person! xx

It's been a while since my last post and I'm not sure if there's anyone still out there? I've had some health issues to deal with and so had to take some time off from blogging which made me very sad. Thankfully, I was still able to get some knitting... Continue reading

Oooo - germs at half term. Not good. Good to hear Toby's feeling better now though. Gorgeous pic of Toby & Amy btw. What a lovely bond they have! I love the shopping basket full of animals. I'm imagining a LCR supermarket where you could shop for super cute animals in delightful knitted outfits. Too cute! Pen xx

It's been a while since my last On the Needles post, primarily because I've been busily knitting about 8 pairs of socks which will be gifts for various lucky recipients. I've still not had chance to take a picture of them yet but will try to do so asap. Soctober... Continue reading

thanks Lorraine! It's the first time I've had any success. Mostly they just look like I've hacked them with a carving knife so I definitely can recommend the Pumpkin Master tool kit! Can't believe I've not got to put it away for 12 months! x

So it's that time of year again, where parents begin to dread the prospect of having to knock on their neighbours doors simply for their children to demand sweets (which have been deposited there earlier by said parent!) from them. Mr C hates Hallowe'en and has done ever since A... Continue reading

Ah - so crochet is the dark side afterall! I can really sympathise! I do hate it when I get part way through a project and I look at and think - "Oh My Goodness - what was I thinking?" Personally, I think crochet instills lots of colour madness and it can really work. Lucy at Attic 24 would certainly vouch for that. But as other commenters have said, colour is so subjective so if it's not working for you then have a pause and look at it again before ripping it back. Maybe a more neutral, cream/white would work as a joining colour so that the squares sit on their own rather than trying to work with each other? That would then look more like your china set. I'm just toying with making a Bee Keepers Quilt and I'm having the same colour conundrums and I've not even started it yet! Pen xox

Too cute, Julie! Incidently, as a child I used to have a cat that would bring back the heads of any small creature he had caught (and eaten) as part trophy/part gift to us. He'd leave the poor mouse's or rabbit's heads in the cupboard under the stairs sat just like your photo. My mum would go to fetch the vacuum from the same cupboard and her shrieks would be heard throughout the whole neighbourhood (not too mention her cursing the cat!) Pen x

Remember this ball of yarn.... After several days of therapeutic sock knitting (admittedly just before my wrist went on strike), and some grafted toe seams (which I did straightaway to avoid inevitable procrastination), I turned it into these.... Admittedly, they're a little jazzy but I just loved the pattern so... Continue reading

Thanks - glad you like him! I've got a bit of a thing for frogs, I think.
Gorgeous strawberry pic - looks too good to eat! I love soft set jam gently folded into double cream and topped on a homemade meringue for pavlova or Eton Mess. Mmmmmm. Be honest - did you eat more that you picked? I know I would! Pen x
