When are we going to get a USMNT game at Red Bull Arena?
Report: USA to play Egypt
The U.S. national team might be heading to the Middle East in February. A report from Egypt suggests that both the USSF and Egypt's FA are in the final stages of negogiations to play a friendly in Cairo on February 9, the first FIFA friendly date of next year. The game would be a rematch of th...
Newcastle sacking Hughton is a joke, unless they have someone lined up and ready to take charge right now. Unless that person is named Martin O'Neil, I can see the fans being pretty pissed off.
The Friedel story worries me in that Villa have made no secret of their desire to bring in another keeper when Friedel leaves. It looks like their target is Allan McGregor of Rangers. I'm concerned that after sitting on the bench for over two years, Brad Guzan is never going to get the opportunity to start for Villa. If they do bring in another 'keeper, I think it's time Guzan finds another club.
Monday Kickoff: Barca trio vie for award, Friedel eyes MLS return and more
When discussing the best players in the world, the conversation tends to drift toward Barcelona's star-studded squad. When selecting the best player in the world for 2010, the decision will also come down to one of the Spanish champion's many maestros. Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta ar...
I don't think playing a friendly on the West Coast during the European season is the best idea in the world...
Report: Argentina-USA March friendly in Seattle confirmed
Photo by ISIPhotos.com Several reports earlier this month suggested that a USA-Argentina friendly in Seattle next March was in the works, and now a fresh report has emerged suggesting the match is a done deal. ESPN Deportes is quoting an organizer of Argentine national team friendlies, who rep...

2011 MLS Expansion Draft: Live Commentary
The Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps are ready to make the first selections in the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft. The Timbers have already begun building their team with the signings of USSF D-2 standouts Ryan Pore Eddie Johnson and Bright Dike, while the Whitecaps recently unveiled...
Landon running off a proper target man like Andy Carroll would be awesome!
Ah me lads, ye shud only seen us gannin',
We pass'd the foaks upon the road just as they wor stannin';
Thor wes lots o' lads an' lasses there, all wi' smiling faces,
Gawn alang the Scotswood Road, to see the Blaydon Races.
Donovan postpones loan decision
photo by David Bernal/ISIphotos.com If you think the Los Angeles Galaxy's season ending means Landon Donovan is ready for an offseason loan out to Europe, think again. He hasn't made up his mind yet. Donovan told Sky Sports News on Thursday he wanted to enjoy his vacation before making a decis...
Did Vancouver have the first choice of allocation? Is that how they landed him as a non-DP player. Given that he hasn't played since the summer, he's bound to be a little rusty. I think that by the end of the year, he'll be one of the top 2-3 centerbacks playing in MLS. A born leader who started 4 games in the heart of defense at a World Cup within the last year is a hell of a foundation to build an MLS squad on.
Whitecaps introduce DeMerit as first signing
Jay DeMerit finally has a team again. Four months after starting all four games for the U.S. national team in South Africa, the former Watford defender was introduced at a press conference today as the first MLS signing by the Vancouver Whitecaps. There was no indication if DeMerit signed as a...
Gold Cup games are not meaningful?
Who will the USMNT start vs. South Africa?
Photo by ISIPhotos.com Now that the roster is out, we can start to think about potential lineup combinations for the U.S. national team against South Africa. Figuring out a potential lineup from such an inexperienced field won't be easy, but it will be a good exercise to think about which way ...

I'm a little disappointed some of our guys who aren't logging a lot of playing time in Europe weren't included. I'd like to see Gooch, Jozy, Eddie Johnson and Sasha get a game. I have to assume that Beckerman wasn't included due to injury.
Agudelo, Ream and Bunbury among USA call-ups vs. South Africa
The U.S. Men's national team has called up an inexperienced squad loaded with youth for next week's friendly against South Africa (Wednesday, 2pm). Juan Agudelo, Teal Bunbury, Gale Agbossoumonde and Tim Ream are among the selections. Here is the squad: GK-Brad Guzan, Dom Cervi D- Clarenc...

Bradley set to turn to youth for next USMNT roster
Photo by ISIPhotos.com With the travel to South Africa making a trip there a burden for overloaded starters, and with several key MLS-based players still taking part in the MLS playoffs, Bob Bradley has a limited number of options for selecting his roster for the U.S. team's upcoming friendl...
I have season tickets so I'm going anyway, but my vote goes to this dude.

What are your favorite Jaime Moreno moments?
Photo by ISIphotos.com As D.C. United prepares to conclude a forgettable season when they host Toronto this Saturday, the franchise will also bid adieu to one of the greatest players in MLS history, as Jaime Moreno will play his last game in a United uniform. The 36-year-old has spent all but ...
God I hate Ibrahim. I'd rather see Chinn, or ideally Agudelo start alongside Angel.
Henry to miss Red Bulls-Revs match
The New York Red Bulls have a chance to clinch their first regular season Eastern Conference title in club history, but they'll have to do so without Thierry Henry. The French striker is listed as out for Thursday night's match, the final regular season match for both clubs, with a right knee...
Swap out Edu for Omar Gonzalez. After the January camp you'll all agree with me.
What is the best USMNT starting lineup?
Photo by ISIPhotos.com After the pair of recent U.S. men's national team friendlies, it is tough not to think about what exactly is the strongest possible lineup Bob Bradley can field. Bradley won't be needing to field a full-strength squad until next summer's Gold Cup, and the next possible ...
It would have to be an attacking midfielder. They didn't bring in Henry and pay him almost $6mil a year to be getting on the end of balls from Mehdi Ballouchy.
Angel "probably won't" return to Red Bulls in 2011
Photo by ISIphotos.com BY MIKE NASTRI Juan Pablo Angel will most likely not be wearing a New York Red Bulls uniform to start the 2011 season. At halftime of the US Men's National Team match against Colombia, ESPN analyst Alexi Lalas asked Angel if he would be back with New York for next seaso...
Ives- is it a sure thing that RBNY sign a 3rd DP or do they use the cap space to add more depth to the squad given that the chances they'll be playing in the CCL seem pretty strong? That being said, this is New York where marketing always seems to trump winning.
Either way, it doesn't make sense, in a salary cap league, to invest so much money at one position. Furthermore, Angel is not the ideal compliment to Henry. Backe seems to want to bring in Luke Rodgers from Notts County and the need to find some more playing time for Juan Agudelo.
From a lot of perspectives, it's a good move for the franchise, but I'm still devastated.
