We actually have some of David's childhood lego.. we should check this out, looks great.
Silicon Valley, Lego land
Credit where credit is due. After complaining the other week about the bizarre inability of so many Silicon Valley parents to allow their kids time to just tinker around with stuff, I was happy to find myself at an event this last weekend positively swarming with would-be tinkerers, young and o...
I bet you could bring your baby!
David Lebovitz in Emeryville Tomorrow
Sometimes I feel like a stalker. I follow famous chefs on Facebook and Twitter. I have to say, that David Lebovitz is the only famous author, blogger, chef that has ever replied to one of my comments or tweets. That is not the only reason why I adore David. He is from the Bay Area, did his tra...
You would expect a district like Palo Alto to take a stand against cyber bullying. Sounds like they refuse to have a set policy or even enforce existing laws. As a community we should make it clear that these behaviors, any bullying at all will not be tolerated. By choosing not to take strong actions PAUSD sends a message that there are no consequences for these beahviors.
Palo Alto: The Home of Stanford, Facebook and Cyber-bullies
Did you know that 42% of kids have been bullied while online? Did you know that 35% of kids have been threatened online? Did you know that Palo Alto is home to the most popular Social Networking site in the world, Facebook? Did you know that the Palo Alto School District DOES NOT have a cyb...
Great post. I do not have a baby book for one of my four kids. I figure I will make one before their wedding. I am always running out the night before of an event for something!
Merry Christmas and don’t judge me!
There. It’s done. I’ve just mailed my final Christmas cards. Just in time for Valentine’s Day. My husband felt it was an embarrassment. I felt it was an accomplishment. You see, I struggle with APMD. Advance Procrastinating Mommy Disease. I was diagnosed even before childbearing age as a 7th g...
I hear that the take out will be open around Feb. 16th. I am looking forward to having local, organic, healthy take out.
Calafia has really become a part of the community...
You would never know Silicon Valley is in a recession if you went to Calafia
Yesterday, I planned to go out for lunch with two very close friends. A gals lunch out was desperately needed, and our restaurant of choice was Calafia Having heard about this new restaurant that recently opened at Town and Country Shopping Center, and dealing with a concoction of allergies ...
I am a WF shopper, used to love it. They have gone down hill. Salad bar at both WF's is a wreck, often out of things or cross contaminated. I get Salads at Sprout in Palo Alto, but still get all groceries at WF. They need to have more local, organic and new takeout items w/ better allergy labels.
What is happening to my Whole Foods salad bar?
When they opened the Los Altos Whole Foods I rejoiced. I'd been longing for a place where I could get tasty healthy hot food for lunch. They wooed us with samples and a smorgasbord of options. My coworkers and I were ecstatic. Then we discovered hot crumble made fresh daily, and we pretty muc...
40 is the new 30. I was also had many thoughts about turning 40 last year, but realized how happy I was, even if I was getting older! I have so many friends in their 50's, that 40 seems young again! I view 40 as a time to reflect, and then celebrate!
My Age Obsession
If age is just a number, then why can't I stop obsessing about my recent transition to the BIG 4-0. This isn't my first age-obsession: I went through something similar the year I turned 25. At the time, I recognized that I was not on the right path to live the life I had imagined for mysel...
Michelle Obama is much more than a fashion icon. She is an amazing strong, smart woman. But anyone in the public eye comes under scrutiny for what they wear, goes with being a celebrity. I have to admit, I like her style, but would also not think any less of her for wearing sweats. I was happy to learn that she likes J Crew!
Michelle Obama, More Than Just a Pretty Face
I just finished watching today’s historic inauguration. It was inspiring, hopeful and just plain cool. I am excited at the prospect of the Obama family living in the White House. I love that the Obamas have young children and an apparently open and supportive marriage. I relate to them as a ...
Lollie, Bill P,
I not only read, but have attended many of the Gentry fundraisers. That does not mean that I have to agree with their editorials. I continue to support many local charities, but find their editorials troubling, and not reflective of a large portion of the area they represent. Lollie, perhaps you are one of the Gentry readers that these editorial pages are aimed at, how gentrified!
Another WTF GENTRY MAGAZINE
Dear Elsie Floriani, Founder/Executive Editor of Gentry Magazine. Yes, it is that time again... another Gentry WTF! We were kind of hoping that our last Gentry WTF would have changed the type of garbage that you published. I have received Gentry Magazine by the gate of my house every single mo...
I love Di Pietro Todd in Palo Alto. Call and see if they will give you a special offer for want you are doing. ( I use Jeffrey or Maya)
Happy New Hair
Like most years, I'm starting 2009 with my standard "lose-10-pounds" type of resolution (No, really. This time I mean it. I really do need to lose those 10 pounds). This year I'm adding something new: Get a Haircut. You'd think a haircut would be no big deal: waltz into a hair salon, poin...
