Oh I am so with you on this! The only thing I can vouch for with the kid's invites is, the darn kid didn't give it to their parents. I hate when my son pulls stuff from his backpack that are like, 3 months old. It is common courtesy. Know this.... I would have come. My husband and I love boardgames! Also, you're providing a babysitter? Hells to the yeah I would have RSVP'd YES! Punks. Also, "FRACK" is one of my favorite words, ever!

Kristi, you always leave the most thought out comments. Thank you for that! I had no idea of what you have been through (perhaps it's time to start reading the back-bloggy-issues!). I think it's normal for our families to kick into gear when we, the moms, are down and out. Perhaps I've created my own monsters by not giving my boys "enough" chores. It may be time to increase their loads. And like you said, it may not be completed how I like it, but at least it's done and I can forget about it. And yes, my husband can certainly push the vacuum around occasionally! Thanks for the kudos with my getting help to combat PPD. That wasn't easy and the more open we are about illnesses like this one, the more people we can help. I've been outspoken from the beginning!

OMG with the Oprah people comment! So true. Listen, we all know it's easier to be negative than to be positive. I wish I could be that positive vibes girl all day long... Really I do. But when your "To Do" list is so long, stuff like positivity take a backseat! My kids have their chores... maybe it's time to increase this list, especially now that Summer is here! My husband is a huge help actually. He's more of a neat freak than I am so there's rarely a toy out of place when the baby isn't playing with it!

I agree with Gail, this is a great way to stay organized. I used to plan every aspect of my life. Then I had my third child and most of that went out the window. I wonder if that's one of the many underlying issues with PPD.

After the birth of my third son fifteen months ago, I developed postpartum depression. I have since recovered through means of therapy, medication and support from family, friends, and writing. Every once in a while I fall into a slump... Continue reading

This is very powerful Kat. Your honestly comes through in such a way that I think a lot of people can relate, even though we may not be in a situation such as this one.

My husband is notorious for not returning calls. He has a lot of friends scattered across the US. He always says he doesn't have the time but by putting it off longer and longer, he's making the phone call he finally makes last for hours because of it. It sucks.

It is stupid, I agree. That's why I made up my own rules. If they can do it, so can I! I love "Squishy Bug"! I'm totally going to shout this out on the way home this afternoon just to see what kind of look I get. She hearts zombies.... That kid is allllll right!

We all know the familiar game of shouting out while driving, usually resulting in a bruise of some kind. It is just me or have any of you ever thought about how this game has evolved over the years? I'm... Continue reading

Okay, this is my best compromise..... Take her in the pool while it's raining, not storming, just raining. Two birds - One stone, kinda? I was always told as a kid that we would get worms if we played in puddles. Is that even a little true?

Man oh man oh man do I feel you on every angle here! Every time I get back on the diet and exercise horse something goes wrong. I'm recovering from a girlie surgery right now but once I'm given the "all clear" it's on. It has to be!

I think silly bandz are SO cool.... And I totally remember slap bracelets too. Huh, I didn't know they were banned in Florida. I'll have to double check my teen son's wrist when he gets home to see if he's wearing his. I agree, kinda ignorant to ban them!

Man! All I got was a "lunch to go" from the hospital when I checked out. It was darn good but it wasn't a meal a day for a month. I need better friends apparently. Congrats!!!

I heart you so, so much for this post. Other people I know just restart the dryer, I however do the wet washcloth in the dryer thing and it's a knock out (for my power bill too I'm sure!).

Oh my! My heart goes out to you for what you've been through and the pain you will have to relive through the eyes of your children. Being is a mommy is the hardest job there is.

Just visited your blog. Love it! And I love this post even more. Do you have a Border's by you? Love that free WiFi and they make the best coffee. Funny thing is, I drive through this town each day to get to my office and there are actual old closed down gas stations converted into hot WiFi spots. It's very ghetto!

Hats off to you! Not only do I hate it when parents ignore their kids when out and about but it's even worse when the teachers are doing it! They are paid to do it... Biotches!

I heard on the radio that the guy she was dancing with is gay.... That really does make a big difference, no? I agree though, it's none of our business and people need to get their own life.

Great first post Elena! You are in the right to want to only put a bandaid over your daughter's hurt feelings rather than wrap an ace bandage around it, sheltering the pain.

What a sweet way to put this into words! Since the birth of my third son, I have since adopted this "slogan" as well. And you know, a little dirt on the floor is okay. Playing a game with the kids is way more fun!
