Unfortunately, it's considerably harder for part of an existing F2F team to work remotely. Most difficult part is weaning off habit of having ad hoc discussions and making decisions in the hallway which leaves remote workers unaware and out of decision making process. The best situation for working remotely is "everyone, from the start", like StackOverflow. The next best is, of course, "Rambo vs. Red Army".
