I've been hearing this a lot recently but I still don't see it. Smartphones and tablets are great for browsing the web or when you're out and about, but I'm never going to want to write documents or code on them. If I'm on a business trip it's a laptop I need, not a phone. While the majority of casual users may well switch to mobile devices there will be a need for laptops and desktops for power users for a while yet.

When you choose a mobile contract with any provider you're usually faced with a huge number of choices. These plans usually change on an annual basis as they try to match the current marketing trend. What I'd like to see is a 6-monthly or annual letter that tells me how my usage matches the plan I'm on and then suggests alternative or new plans that might suit me better. All the data for this analysis is already on their servers.
Are mobile providers interested in having you on the best plan, or just leaving you on one that may cost more than you need?
