The way I see it, I have to get my hands on this rare misprinted Michael Jordan Biography that accidentally has Bill Russell on the cover...a printing error like that must be worth a small fortune
Bill Russell is just an unbelievable human being
There's nothing Bill Russell hates more than the spotlight. But he stepped into it today as he was honored for his mentoring program. But along with that comes his statue... which he really doesn't like very much. “Well, [the statue] makes me a little uneasy, because it seems almost like a to...
I thought I over heard on the post game show once, that is the Cs score 99 points in a win, you get a free coffee at dunkin the next day...am I imagining that?
Recap: Cs put second half squeeze on Philly
Warning: This is a mail-in blog job. I just couldn't get into this game. Think Celtics vs Bobcats from a few weeks ago. Not sure how much credit to give the Celtics defense, but Philadelphia's offense was brutal in the second half. They managed just 32 points. Every time I looked up (from my ...

Totally disagree...he is way more than an athlete...if this was about Philly putting up a Rocky statue? Yeah, I totally agree with you, guy wasn't even real. But you have to realize that other cities don't necessarily have people like Ted Williams and Russell to put statues/structures up of.
Not only did Bill Russell help revolutionize basketball and American pro sports in general, but he was a figure that stood strong on the basis of his integrity during one of this nation's ugliest periods. People not knowing that is precisely why there should be vivid reminder of the man.
Bill Russell statue idea gaining steam
Back in November, Paul Flannery wrote a great piece for Boston Magazine about why Boston needs to erect a statue for Celtics legend Bill Russell. Well, as Boston.com reports this afternoon,, he's far from alone on the idea. Boston city councilors John Connolly and Ayanna Pressley have filed a ...

I don't have a problem with Kobe there...I'd be pissed too...though I wouldn't react like that...but than again I'm not one of the best players in the game. You gotta figure that it's Odom's fault for not having a pair and taking that crap from Kobe.
That being said, I love it when the guys on my team are stone cold like that, that's why I'm all for KG being mentally unstable on the court. Attitudes like that remind me of the infamous 3 point contest when Bird said: “Which one of you assholes is coming in second?” before taking out the trash without taking off his coat...difference being, he wasn't trashing his own teammate in the final seconds of a legit game...
Kobe disses Lamar on national tv
A sharp viewer caught Kobe Bryant throwing towels. Again. The victim this time? His Laker teammate Lamar Odom during Sunday's win over the Thunder. After Odom bricks 2 free-throws at a crucial juncture of the contest, Kobe shows his disdain by chucking a sweaty towel in the Candyman's grill. For...
It was a god second half, though I cant stand listening to Walton...sometimes he says absurd things that are just hilarious...but when he tries to give life lesions from the booth to people like Luke while at the same time, laying into Semih, it makes me want to punch my TV. (though it was cool to hear Mike tell him to back off Semih).
I honestly don't think Walton could name 3 players on the team who aren't starters. They have to give Mike someone better to work with on these road games...Walton is getting more annoying than funny.
Recap: Rondo, rest of Big 4 smoke Golden State
Photo by Rocky Widner/NBAE via Getty Images The Celtics and Warriors were playing at a video game pace for the first half of this game... going into halftime tied at 60. But the C's clamped down the defense in the second half and won this one going away 115-93 After giving up 30 points in eac...
"Sometimes I wish the traditional broadcast medium would hurry up and just die already so we don't have to be subjected to their inane, nonsensical blathering."
Amen...
The case for #6 has been made ad nauseam...can't help but think a big reason why nothing has been done has to do in part with all the years that Russel refused to play games with the asshole media in Boston.
Bill Russell's Medal of Freedom ceremony
You heard the President... get this man a damned statue. And please, don't listen to a certain pair of local morning idiots who rambled on this morning about how Russell doesn't deserve one because they should be reserved for war heroes. There's no reason we can't honor Bill Russell for the ...
I think in general, KG’s attitude is being blown out of proportion (but not necessarily by this site).
If I threw in my own 2 cents I'd say that I like Kg's intensity and that I particularly don't agree with the Laimbeer association.
But...I like this site and the work these guys put in, so I don't get all worked up about it, as if John and Chuck secretly hate KG.
Being critical of the team you love is a good thing
I love sports... particularly the sport of basketball. That much should be obvious. Sports are a great escape from reality. It's a place where people use inclusive terms like "we" and "us" when talking about their favorite team despite the fact that our dreams of actually playing for these g...
This link worked for me....
http://www.csnne.com/pages/v1_landing?blockID=319906
But I think the more important question isn't WHY KG has that kind of energy on media day but HOW is it that he's yelling without letting the F-bombs fly...it's like a leopard without spots
Kevin Garnett is crazy, distracting
Rondo's reaction to KG yelling in the other room is just so perfect. "How does he have that much energy and we're not even playing... like... It's media day" KG is an animal. (CSNNE)
How does a creep like Marv Albert get in but not Johnny Most?
Also, what's up with getting Bill Russel some bean town love? Is that ever going to happen? I know there is a facebook page with 5000+ fans but whose ass do you have to light a fire under to get the man a statue or something.

one of the better posts I've read... makes you wonder how a majority of 'real' sports journalists get paid to spit out nonsense and gossip...I guess common sense doesn't sell
Doc: Rondo "has to grow up in front of everybody"
Doc Rivers was in LA to watch his son in that Elite 24 game, which included Austin making John Wall look bad. While he was there, the folks at You Been Blinded caught up with him for a short interview. The thing that stuck out to me was the last question... which was about Rajon Rondo. ...

Report: C's close to signing Shaq
A. Sherrod Blakely tweetsCeltics appear to be close to signing Shaquille O'Neal. Will have the story up shortly. More details as they emerge UPDATE: CBS' Ken Berger reports: Shaquille O'Neal is about to take his talents to South Bay -- Boston, that is. The 38-year-old, 15-time All-Star is ...
Who cares...as a fan the man is one of the greatest Celtics/NBA Players ever. But he isn't a fan of the Cs, he's an Indiana guy…considering that it hasn't been his team since he left and the last thing he had in common with the franchise was probably Red, is anyone surprised about these comments? He does have more in common with Kobe than say Pierce.
I like what Ainge had said a while back about Red being too sentimental in keeping the Big 3 together, it's a reality check statement to fans. These guys get paid to play; their loyalties are to themselves, their families and in some cases their egos...just be happy when we have some of those insanely good, insanely aggressive players in green.
We have a championship caliber team we don't need to be living in the glory days and hanging off of what former players say. Because they gave us all they had and don't owe us loyalty now, even though it's nice when they give it.
Larry Bird's Favorite Player In The NBA: Kobe Bryant
If you think about it, I mean really think about it, it's completely logical. During his legendary career with the Celtics, Larry Bird redefined the term "Killer Instinct." Bill Russell was probably the first NBA player to display this trait every game for an entire career that captured 11 tit...
Man get a life...I honestly didn't read much of what you said because I scrolled down and saw more CAPS and dick references...get a girlfriend...or a boy friend if that's your thing, which I'm thinking it is because you love to talk about sucking dick...anyone who cares that much to talk more none-sense days later is incredibly insecure...you must be a high school internet hero with some other deep issues or something...be happy with your 11th title and come back down to earth tough guy

haha i realized it shortly after...but no LA fans corrected me...maybe Atlas did but I didn't see it til much later...either way that angry capital type and the constant dick references you drop say you're clearly insecure about allot of things so I won't argue with you other than to say to get a life. because the world won't stop revolving because someone misquoted the # of the dodgers titles on a sports blog and some dick finally had the brains to wiki it. as far as the celtics...they are best NBA team ever...including the teams from LA, it's simple math and simple pride of fact, read what Schooley said...but I'm not gunna go another round repeating myself to you idiots...stop absurdly talking shit or go back to you own sites unless you have something new and relatively intelligent to say about the game of basketball

it's not a matter of not responding it's a matter of not wanting to be like a 14 year girl on an instant messanger...to prove my point:
in Boston the fans and players don't care about individual accomplishments as much as titles...unlike your rapist...you're obviously upset at the truth that on the basis of sports teams, your city sucks balls and we own you...
so as hard as it might be with your head stuck up your ass, navigate your way back to your fakers blog where you obviously use the MLA format to express your resentment of Boston while pretending that Minnesota and California are the same place
consider yourself enlightened...you can stop responding now, you look like a tool

I take it you didn't read my post and are therefore most likely a fair weather laker fan...probably from outside of california...
in Boston the city and the teams are closely linked, and it's a foreign concept to think of a title from another town being our own...you wouldn't get that because you idiots clearly eat paint chips

This is the last time I will explain this...the Dodgers have never won a title while residing in LA...the Brooklyn Dodgers however have won 6. The same idea applies to the LA Lakers.
I am mocking LA professional sports teams by sarcastically pointing out that the closest thing LA has to a pro football team is USC, which is now ineligible for bowl games and may even lose some of its past championships and is therefore irrelevant.
That being said the Olympics and the world cup have nothing to do with the local college or professional sports teams...pointing out the Rose Bowl and UCLA basketball is irrelevant… I might as well state the obvious and say that New England has better NCCA hockey teams than California.
Bragging rights is one of the great things about sports, but LA fans coming on here unprovoked and dropping f bomb ridden hate posts are getting old...you won one championship in one sport and you start burning your city...if you wanna talk trash understand that you don't have much ammo

Again, LA has won 11, I guess all the California budget cuts have taken away maps from your schools...but let me break down why we own you losers:
1.Celtics 17 titles - LA Lakers 11 (again, titles from Minnesota don't count)
2.Red Sox 7 titles - LA Dodgers 0 (titles from Brooklyn don't count either...but how are our leftovers? Manny's looking great!)
3. Bruins 5 titles - Kings 0 (despite almost a decade with Wayne Gretzky)
4. Patriots 3 titles - LA___ 0 (you don't have a team...but USC will be playing glorified exhibition games for the next couple of years...alternatively you could talk Raiders if you want to open that hilarious can of worms)
...suck on that loser

First off they aren't conspiracy theories...they are evident truths that games throughout the playoffs were officiated in a disputable manner to increase games and thus ratings.
The NBA likes Boston in the finals they just don't like them winning it. There is more money to be made nationally and internationally in Lakers merchandise.
I've lived in Europe and Latin America and I can tell you that Lakers (like the Yankess) are as American as McDonalds and Coca Cola. People want to be cool and and wear apparel and root for teams from the 2 biggest cities in the US representing the 2 most interntionally loved US sports.
I don't care, because I prefer it that way...less fair weather fans..and it's fun to laugh at ignorant haters who think that LA has more than 11 titles.

Yeah because a stadium constitutes a team...gotta love California, how far in debt are you guys now? Many cities that build stadiums and actually have multiple teams still lose money but clearly you guys know something the rest of us don't...or maybe you'll get the Raiders back because they're a model NFL franchise.
The only football team you do have will be playing glorified exhibition games the next few years thanks to the NCAA catching onto all the shady recruiting, which you can now throw out the window since you won't be allowed in any bowl games.
Truth is loser, we are better than you in everything...your hockey hasn't won shit despite wasting a decade of Gretzky's career, you get our left overs in baseball, you don't even have a football team..and your basketball team (from Minnesota) is the second best team in basketball...so you got that going for ya.
Even a nearly retired David Beckham was getting paid bank to screw around in Hollywood and he hated it so bad HE paid AC Milan to return to competitive sports.
Face it you guys suck, so enjoy your little moment in the sun...because it won't be long before the rapist starts crying about Gasol and has the management show him the door like they did Shaq.
So close...
Credit to the Lakers for winning a hard-fought, hideously played Game 7, 83-79. Crazy Ron Artest (who thanked his psychiatrist in the post game interview) was the hero for Los Angeles. Ron had 20 points and 5 steals while playing lock down defense on Paul Pierce (18 points, 5-15 FG). His thr...
You guys do a great job here, much better than the typical sports media outlets that are so absurdly negative towards the home teams. (Is that just a Boston thing?)
But hats off to you guys, you do a great job of being a site for real fans while never being seriously bias. The site is a great resource, particularly for fans who aren't around Boston because you give the real story and real insight.
Keep up the good work, I'll be checking in with redsarmy for all my off season news.
A Thank You to our readers
We would just like to take a moment to say thanks to all of you who continue to read Red's Army every day. It's been a long, tough season with a lot of ups and downs and a lot of disagreements along the way. But in the end, we're all Celtics fans (well, most of us. I'm looking at you, trolls)...
If they deal Pierce or dangle him around for a possible deal I'd be upset. And I at least hope to see them try to keep Ray, even not as a starter, which I think he'd go for, what sucks is that you need a name that sells jerseys to get calls (or to not get bs calls against you) and the big three aren't as popular throughout the country and especially around the world. (probably because their numbers aren't ridiculous because they play as a team)
This team proved in every single round of the playoffs that a single superstar won't beat a sound team. I include last night in that because they did a good job on Kobe until the guys in gray started handing out free shoots.
So I think this team has another run in it but the NBA might not and what sucks is that you can only play against your opponent and the refs for so long.
Your Morning Dump... Where that might have been it for Sheed
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “You know, I don’t know if Rasheed will ever play again,” Rivers said. “You know, he’s one of them. I think he took that out ...
