Count me in if I am not too late --
a very limited (I mean VERY limited) autographed book lottery
Yesterday, I said: I found nine hardback copies of The Happiest Days of Our Lives that I must have put there when they first arrived at my house a couple of years ago. They look as perfect as they did the day they were taken out of the box. So I have this idea to sell them, that goes like this:...
You and Anne sound like you have a great relationship. My husband and I have been together for over 25 years, and while I am the "geek" of the two, we have noticed over the years that we have taken on different aspects of each other. He still does not understand how I can watch 14 + hours of Firefly, or the entire Star Wars franchise at one sitting, but someday maybe.....
And as far as the insurance company - I just got my flood insurance bill - First glance? only went up $7 woo hoo - wait NOOO - My deductible just went up $1500 -- I am right there with you. Wil - as always, thanks for sharing your weekend!!
It turns out I had a fairly geeky weekend
In an effort to force myself out of this non-creative, unmotivated funk I've been in post-Eureka, I now commence a braindump from this weekend: I pressed the plunger down on my coffee press and tried to clear the sleep from my eyes while Anne put the orange juice back into the fridge. The mornin...
Congratulations on a great weekend and not coming home sick !*BONUS*!
As always thanks for sharing your life with all of us, what I have seen of the keynote it was awesome - congratulations!!
in which wil feels homesick
One of the themes of my PAX keynote was Welcome Home, which everyone who had been to a PAX before could understand. For the first timers, though, I wanted to help them understand exactly why it is we say that, so I said: All of the things that make us weird and strange in the real world? Those ...
"my treatmeant of homosexuals should be no different that how I treat anyone- the way I'd want to be treated. Friendship, respect, dignity" .........
"Right or wrong, I have no situation where hatred, violence, disdain, or disrespect is going to be the answer to the question of how I'd like to be treated"
Those two comments in your post jumped out at me as such simple, straightforward ways of looking at, and dealing with others.
Now,I am in no way, shape or form a conservative Christian, however,I was raised on the Golden Rule -Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Mom's version)
What a kinder, more peaceful world this would be if people stopped for a second, and thought,"would I want someone to do what I am about to do, to me?"
I was just up here reading some of the comments since this was first posted, and I agree with you on the civility of the posts as well. This is a hot button topic to be sure, and everyone has stated their opinions with dignity, eloquence, and not one bit of bickering. Very impressive!! I am quite grateful to have found this community. Now I am off to make more tea - Earl Grey - Hot :0)
James Randi: "I'm gay."
James Randi says:Well, here goes. I really resent the term, but I use it because it’s recognized and accepted.I’m gay. From some seventy years of personal experience, I can tell you that there’s not much “gay” about being homosexual. For the first twenty years of my life, I had to live in the sha...
Wil,
Congratulations on finishing the speech, and have a good time at PAX!! Have no doubt that you will be great!!

In which I finally finish writing my PAX East keynote
The last two months have featured sleepless nights, 10-hour work days, and constant battles with the voices of Self Doubt, You Suck, Why Did You Agree To Do This, You're Boring me Zoidberg, and They're All Going To Laugh At You. But a little earlier, when I finally got to turn this: into thi...
Please allow me to join the chorus of congratulations on kicking cancer to the curb.
Have a great time at PAX, you have certainly earned your perfect storm of awesomeness!!!

Wil,
Thank you for posting this - the more we start dialogues, and get the absurdities of prejudice because of race, sexual preference, and beliefs out in the open, the quicker we can break down some of these invisible barriers to enable people to have safe and happy lives as themselves.

Thanks All - will have to keep an eye out for that one. Previews looked interesting and love Roald Dahl. Think a 5 year old will get it?
The Fantastic Mister Fox is a cussin' great movie
Last night, Anne and I watched The Fantastic Mister Fox. I completely missed this movie when it was in theaters, and didn't know a single thing about it except that, according to our friends, I'd really like it. About fifteen minutes into the movie I turned to her and said, "This is awesome. It'...

As some of you know, for the last six weeks, I've been working night and day on my PAX Keynote, which I deliver in 176 hours. It's been a long and sometimes agonizing road but after intensely bouncing drafts back and forth with Andrew this week, I have a draft that I can begin polishing. This me...
I am in total agreement, just got home from watching the 5 and 2 year old nieces and this was such a great read to end the day.
I love this blog, the link is on my homepage now so that I can catch the new posts as soon as they happen.

I have to admit that episode of Criminal Minds totally freaked me out. I had to go online and "verify" that was really you playing Floyd. It was an amazing performance, creepy, but amazing.

The first appearance of Evil Wil Wheaton on The Big Bang Theory is airing again tonight, so I thought I'd gather up all the posts I wrote while working on it in one place: leveling up while geeking out on the set of the big bang theory I remember being in drama school in my early twenties, and ...
Little late to the party, but me too. Met the spousal unit of 25 years playing D&D, and learned a very valuable lesson about pissing off the DM!! - Picture 15th level Ranger walking around with her Ray Bans duct taped to her head because she was talking to someone while the DM was rolling and he chopped off her nose, and when she protested he rolled and took both her ears. She shut up and rolled for duct tape from her bag of holding and ran around that way for 4 more games. And they were such nice pointy elf ears too - LOL

If deadlines were dragons, I'd be in the lair with nothing left but my trusty sword and a relentless determination to slay the fucker and take his heart back to The Adventure Hook Tavern as a souvenir. So in place of a proper post, here's what I did this weekend: I'm running a 4e dungeon delve...
Words spoken - words eaten
Hate it when this happens - After Sunday morning's first coffee bitching, I had no intentions of watching the Oscars, and certainly not any of the red carpet crap (which I didn't), but..... got home from watching the girls, and the spousal unit was watching what else? The Oscars. I walked in the door to Jeff Bridges introducing a Coen Brothers film. Now I have been a fan of Jeff Bridges since Tron, and fell madly in love with the Dude. And then to find out he got best actor the next morning. Well hell, ya gotta love that !!... Continue reading

Oscar Smoscar
I cannot WAIT for tonight and tomorrow to be over - I am so sick of hearing about the Oscars, the swag parties, the preparations. You know what? If there is intelligent life out there --- they have probably been here already, took one good look at us, and went on their merry way. In this day and age, in light of natural disasters, recession, people without jobs, health care, and a way to feed themselves and their children, seeing all of this crap going on in Holly-weird CA is embarrassing. How much money is being WASTED for a bunch... Continue reading

Guess now is as good a time as any
Today would have been my daughter's 32nd birthday. In light of the events of the last week, it has struck me exceptionally hard today. I prayed that they would find Andrew Koenig alive and holed up somewhere, but when I read that he had given away some of his possessions, I knew. I knew deep down in my gut that he was already lost. Watching his parents in the news conference broke my heart. My daughter would be 32 if she had not taken her own life 15 years ago. She was 17 years old. She was probably bi-polar, but... Alright Brain, you don't like me, and I don't like you. But let's just do this, and I can get back to killing you with beer.
I've put myself pretty much on lockdown until I finish writing my PAX East keynote, because my brain really isn't making it easy to convert my concepts and ideas into a proper presentation that is both thoughtful and entertaining. I've given myself next Wednesday as the ultimate deadline, becaus...
Alas Mimi it is the little humanoid - unfortunately once they are released from the mothership they will still find ways of draining brain cells from you - so your best bet is to hide some away now, and spring them on the little alien when they least expect it. HA!!

Because I am too busy for a proper post, I offer a very brief trip report: I went to Seattle at the end of last week, where I not only got to spend three days with my friends from Penny Arcade, I finally got to take a tour of the Wizards of the Coast offices after years of being invited to check...
As a recent discoverer of both this blog and your podcasts, this has been a great read, and I have thoroughly enjoyed them all.
I am on year 25 of being married to my best friend who I actually met while playing D&D, and you are correct sir.....being married to your best friend most certainly RULES!! Congratulations and may you have many many more.
Happy New Year Wil Wheaton - I look forward to more of your work in the coming months, and thank you for putting it out there!!

the 2009 year in review, part six
This post is not a number, it is a free man. It also continues my 2009 year in review from part five, and concludes this obscenely long series of posts that I hope was worth the time I put into creating them. I revealed a fairly major secret, and there was much rejoicing. Yaaay. About 24 hours ...

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Christmas Wishes from Steve Martin, and Me, Wil Wheaton
Steve Martin has a Christmas wish to share with you: (If you can't see Hulu videos, or just want the audio, YouTube has you covered. It's a Christmas miracle!) And here's my holiday wish, which isn't nearly as funny, but is at least (if not more) sincere: Whatever you choose to celebrate t...
