At this moment very little can be called a “firm plan of action”. In the search for available monies for such things as realigning the channel or repairing breakwater breaches we need to know what funds are available. Paperwork is in process, for example, for dredging. With approval we can then start gathering estimates based upon elements of the approval. And, of course, there will need to be considerations involved with Fish and Game as well as the Forest Service and others. There is a general feeling in the Breakwater Committee that the approach will be a combination of both repair and dredging simultaneously. It is too bad, but the entire "Save The Thorofare" project hinges on finding the money. The Bonner County Waterways committee and Commissioner Kelly were impressed that we have garnered strong community support and we thank you for that. Keep the word out ( as well as your checkbook) because when state and county entities see us working hard at the local level it will inspire them to give us a helping hand . Continue reading
