Wil,
I hope you enjoyed your time away with your family. I feel that you actually did not, and still do not owe anyone an apology. Anyone who stood in those lines, declaring their fervor for "Free Speech" were simply siding passively with what that man said. It would be no different from a person standing by while Hitler espoused his hate.
But I think a world renowned Civil Rights leader said it best: "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetuate it." Martin Luther King Jr.
Setting aside anger for something that I hope is a little more kind. (Or: when I break my own law)
A few days ago, I Twittered: "I can't stop laughing at the bigots who celebrated their solidarity with each other by gorging themselves on shitty fast food. Bravo, jerks." I still think it's silly that eating at a fast food restaurant is considered political activism today, but that's not what t...
(picking up on this late...) Seeing as how Falling Skies is the only SciFi show keeping my hopes alive for well (and I mean DAMN well) produced scifi on TV, the fact that they brought you in on a "Talking Skies" just restores a little bit more faith that at least someone in the tv/cable world has a brain and some love for scifi programming. (*kicks syfy in the shin!*)
Gratz on the gig! I will definitely enjoy watching.
I'm hosting Falling Skies: Second Watch
Two creators, one geek. Remember when I said I don't cancel convention appearances lightly, because I know how disappointing it is for the people who are attending. I assure you that this isn't a ploy to win a game of Mystic Warlords of Ka'a, or even a bowling match... this is just s...
Oh man... laughed hard at that one. XD
Sadly, that was/is one of my favorite episodes. Think I even built a lego version of that head thingy... WHAT?! I was kid! =)
I am easily amused
So io9 did this thing called the 10 Suckiest Fake Video Games That People Play In Science Fiction. Spoiler Alert: The Game from, uh, The Game is number one. 1) Suckdisk from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Actually, we don’t remember this game having an actual name on the show, but “suckdisk” f...
This marks the second time I have read this story which I do believe means I have been reading for 1 year offically. =D Good Stuff!
Because it's become a yearly tradition, here's a story about fireworks
I've written hundreds of thousands of words over the years, but this remains one of my all-time favorites, so I like to revisit it every year. It was originally written and published on July 5, 2002, which usually feels like years and days ago all at once, but this year actually feels like a lif...
Thank you for sharing this Wil. Raw emotion is something that isn't usually easily conveyed through simple words on a page but I felt it here in this post. Normally after something like that I'd be inclined to give ya a hug, so a digital one will have to do. *hug*
Though I hadn't seen him in over twenty years, I knew I'd miss him forever
I stood in the lobby of the Falcon Theater in Toluca Lake, and looked at Twitter while I waited for the rest of the guys to arrive. The walls were covered with posters from productions like CHiPs: The Musical and It's A Stevie Wonderful Life. Being in a theater during the day, when it's just a b...
Have fun at the Con! Also question, if I may? Any plans on doing MegaCon in Orlando, FL or DragonCon in Atlanta this year?
My Emerald City Comicon schedule, and an ultra-limited merchandise thingy
Tomorrow, I head up to glorious Seattle for the Emerald City ComiCon. I'm doing the usual storytellings and autograph signings, though I have to leave on Saturday due to an unfortunately-timed family commitment. I'm hosting an Awesome Hour on Friday at 4pm, and I'll be on The Guild panel with Am...
Honestly? I'd like to see W00Tstock at least in my state with you in it. Is Florida that evil? Maybe... but the weather is ok and hell, I dont care where it is I'll still drive to it. (though Tampa *cough, cough* would be beggars choice!)
Until that fateful day, break a leg on the 29th!
w00tstock presents: Wil Wheaton vs. Paul and Storm at Largo
Later this month -- March 29, to be precise -- I will be joining Paul and Storm for a show at Largo, here in Los Angeles. This show will be a sort of concentrated w00tstock, expanding my 20 minute set of one story to about 60 minutes of probably 3 stories, and doing approximately the same for Pa...
I say damn the consequences and break those coasters out! Every den can use a bit more 'dragon'. =)
A weekend of gaming, from Cal & D to Power Grid
Saturday, I got together with Cal, Martin and Steve so we could finish our now-epic one-shot of Cal & D. The plan was to start at 10, because Martin had a family commitment that we all decided (despite his disagreement, which was wrong) that wasn't nearly as important as crawling the dungeon and...
Wow, I envy a D&D game like this. I cant remember the last time I played just a "fun" game of D&D... Curse of being the DM I guess; always feels like serious business. Ah well, thank you again Wil for the great story and it's good to see you didn't get punched in the dick... Never a good trade off for a gaming night.
In which we play Cal & D.
Saturday morning, I drove over to my friend Cal's house for D&D. Our friend Steve was already there, and our friend Martin was on his way to meet us. While we waited for Martin to show up, we caught up on our lives, told stupid (and not-so-stupid) jokes, and got ready for the game. "Hey, I broug...
I'm happy to say I owned this shirt before I knew it was a Wil Wheaton production =D Just made it better finding out after the fact, and it oft makes an appearance during my gaming sessions... As the DM I'm not sure if it's a symbol of power or a visual prophesy of doom. ^_^
In which my shirt.woot shirt makes its resurrection roll
The Lords of Shirt.woot heard our prayers, and have brought my shirt, How We Roll (or, as I like to call it, Critical Mass), back for the holidays!! Real quick history lesson: I designed this shirt, that I really love, for shirt.woot last year. It was pretty damn popular, but was overtaken by ot...
Does being the DM mean being the Loser?
You can attempt to read all the source material of a particular game system, you can be as nice a DM as can be... but inevitably you will fall into the trap of "The DM vs. Players". It may only be one encounter, or it may be unwittingly how you... Continue reading

"Some celestial event. No - no words. No words to describe it. Poetry! They should've sent a poet. So beautiful. So beautiful... I had no idea."
Only movie quote I considered worthy of this. Epic in the definition given to Odysseus and his ilk. Bravo.
Testing the theory that one can not have too many dice
Just before I went out to GenCon in August, I wrote: I have one request, which I hope isn't unreasonable: I'd like to test the theory that you can't have too many dice. If I see you at GenCon, would you give me one gaming die? I'll bring home as many as I get, dump them all on my office floor, ...
Life... doesnt parley
To all my non reader's out there sorry for the absence of update-ness. It's been a rough week to be sure and that has thus interfered with things like "Fun", and "Relaxation"... Stupid life. So what caused the road block? We found a rather large lump on my cat's belly... Continue reading

Wow that was a great interview. The Grinch-hacker who stole Christmas... Cant wait to see that.
As for Woot-Stock... Ya gotta to a Florida Date! I know its far.. but its a family vacation AND an excuse to have a show all in one! XD
Oh and is the shirt "Rollin with my Peeps?"
in which wil is live at seven
Today is my last day on this episode of Leverage. In just under 24 hours, I go back to real life. Yesterday, I went over to Pioneer Square to talk with Stephanie Stricklen on a local news show called Live at 7. It was a good time, and I got to meet a lot of Portlanders afterward who came out to,...
The party that wont say die; The Hobgoblin Scout Sniper
This week the party lineup changed quite a bit and mostly from me doing a bit of research about DM'ing styles and viewing lots of opinions out there about what to and not to do. One of these opinions that seemed to be shared by quite a few of you... Continue reading

I'm sorry but it had to be done... I pity my players when I drop them in... especially as one of them reads your blog, I'm going to keep this cropped with fog of war until their done with it... (done with Masterplan and yes i own the tiles)
never forget your roots
While walking through Comicon three or four years ago, I stopped to look at one of those booths that's filled with a hundred different T-shirts. Somewhere among the various superhero crests and clever nerd phrases and obscure sci-fi homages, I saw a fairly simple design: an Atari joystick, sitti...

Do not Meddle in the affairs of players DM, for you are crunchy...
In my life I've had a theme to how I speak. Some would call it a bad habbit, others would say there are technical dificulties between my brain and mouth but what it boils down to is I've never been able to edit the inflection of what I say which... Continue reading

Hard to just roll the Dice.
Who am I? Nobody. Well not to say I'm a nobody but, in the grand scheme of things it fits. Despite that, I feel that average is a great word; I'm of average weight, height, skin-tone (for a caucasian I guess), average in my need to escape the real world for anywhere else... be it in a book, a video game or a RPG.The RPG is by far the best escape though, because it's an escape with friends, and as I have an average god complex, I enjoy DMing and building campaign worlds and of course the stories that go with them. The wife says I should actually try to perticipate in NaNoWriMo but I lack the dicipline needed to write a 50k word novel in a month's time. She does better than I ever would. But I cant debate the fact that I love creating worlds, or taking a world and bending it to a story.Currently I'm running a campaign in the 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons Eberron setting and a few sessions in so far, so good. One thing I've already learned, it is hard to be a DM and not be a player too. Since I started DM'ing this setting it seem's all I want to do is be a player... problem is me and my two players are all on a learning curve trying to get use to this version's rules. Without a DM, there's no game... and I cant be both at one time sucessfully. But as I said; so far, so good. That's all I've got for now. Maybe I can come up with more interesting stuff to write about later... Continue reading

I already (without knowing it mind you) have your shirt from the Shirt.Woot Derby... this is another to be added to the collective. By the by... loved the "stuff" Doctor reference.

That's unbelieveable they'd cover up a floor like that... to each their own though. Cant wait for the return of Chaos and great to see you'll be on Eureka! Keep the geekdom alive. ^_^
nobody can see in our holler tree
Tomorrow morning, I leave for Portland, where I'll spend an all-too-brief week working on Leverage. For those of you who don't know, I'm a recurring character on Leverage. I play a computer hacker called Cha0s, who is a nemesis to the Leverage team, but especially to Hardison. I first played th...
