The VC "promise" to pump $3M into the deal if they increased to an arbitrary number to begin with sounds like a kiss of death to begin with! Any VC basing a decision on such a criteria is bad news to begin with! They were clearly incompetent (geez what a shock) or simply looking for an out IMHO :)

This is a really interesting post and I tend to agree. The question I would have is how to seed this "opt-in" channel you describe (namely, email) and why you think the UHNW won't visit websites. By the same token, what's your take on the percentage on UHNW on either FB or Twitter then? Are there stats on that?
