I think he knew what he was saying, and he intended it that way.
While many in the black community may not have taken him literaly, many in the white community did. That is the devisivness being referred to. If you are a politician of any worth you should respect ALL of your "citizens".
The difference between the actions of the UBP of the '70s, 80's and early 90's and the actions of the Premier in the last two years is very clear in my mind - the former are not in power or in positions of power, whereas the later is now the Premier of this country!
Notwithstanding the above, I am happy to give the Premier the benefit of any doubts I may have to see what he can do to unite this country (black, white, blue, green etc) before giving any views on how he is going to perform. Mind you, as I am not a card carrying member of the PLP nor a delegage for the PLP, I have absolutely no say in who the current premier will be - but it does affect us all.
What are the odds of an election before Christmas? I am sure the PLP will want to take advantage of any increase in popularity as a result of Dr. Brown's ascendency. Dr. Brown would love to have another 5 years, and I am fairly certain he could carry the next election with a larger margin than in 2003!
