Bottom line: The right face mask can protect you from dust, pollution, disease. The wrong one will make you feel safe, but is a waste of your money. Same goes if you don’t put the mask on properly. Continue reading

Ham radio is trending ... and Preppers know why. During a disaster, normal communication can fail and cellphone towers can get jammed. Your ham radio will keep you in contact with ham operators all over the world, even with astronauts in space. Continue reading

That is EXCELLENT advice. From now on we're just "passing through." THANK YOU!!
Our friend Amy had a great suggestion: "Excellent idea to have the dog carry his/her own gear whenever possible. Be sure to take the dog on walks with the bag regularly... empty at first and then gradually add more weight. I've read that a healthy normal dog can safely carry up to 1/3 their body weight... though many stick to about 25% for comfort unless they are larger dogs and more experienced with carrying their packs. Now... if I could just get my cat to wear a pack...." That's the company website, Heather. You can find them at Whole Foods, on Amazon & pet store websites. Lots of preppers have never heard of them either.
I love my dog, and my new kitten, so when the apocalypse happens, I want to give them a fighting chance at survival too. So I made a Doggy Go Bag. Oh yes ... I did!! Continue reading

Being a "Prepper" doesn't mean you have to become a hardcore Survivalist, with two years worth of food and water, and a fear that the world as we know it is ending. After going nine days without power after Hurricane Sandy, I vowed to be more prepared the next time. So when Super Snowstorm Nemo was on the way, I didn't have to panic. Continue reading

Hi! My name is Jen, and I'm a gift card hoarder. I know it sounds crazy that I haven’t cashed in my gift card. What’s crazier is I recently discovered a percentage disappears from every year that I do not use it. It sounds like robbery to me, and Jessie James at least used a gun on his prey! Continue reading

I don’t know about you, but I don’t plan on becoming zombie food if the SHTF one day. I also have no intention of going out to pillage whatever scraps are left on the supermarket shelves. But I still have a family of four to feed and that means I need a plan. Continue reading

Let’s look at the New Year, and non-climactic end of the planet, as a “redo” of sorts. I’m not talking resolutions. I’m talking revolutions. Making mini-earthquakes of change in your life that impact you, as well as help others at the same time Continue reading

COULD SINKHOLES INDICATE MAJOR EARTH CHANGES ALONG NEW MADRID FAULT? The most powerful earthquakes in the history of the United States happened along the New Madrid Fault in 1811 and 1812. Those earthquakes were reportedly felt more than 1,000 miles away. Scientists assure us that one day we will once... Continue reading

"Please, Mommy. I want to be a baby zombie too." There was no way, on God's green earth, that my four-year-old daughter was going to dress up like a freakish ghoul on the night she could be a butterfly, or a cowgirl, or a slice of pizza. I had to think fast. Continue reading
