oh oh oh i love it soooo much!!!
Care to see some studio pics?
It's amazing how not blogging gives one so much more time to get things done! {Ahem} I finally stitched up the inserts for the shutters in my studio, and I can now show you the results! Red gingham... shocker, I know. But of course, I have a long-term love affair with it! This is the comput...
my first thought was that you could embroider over the sharpie marks - after all, they are now part of that quilts story and are precious marks made by a precious sibling. i would have momentarily passed out with the shock of seeing it like that though. the new quilt is looking very cool!
a (new) quilt for Ezra
I don't get very emotionally attached to the things I sew. Or rather, I get "emtionally attached" by way of association. Just a glimpse of a print of fabric can send me reeling down the memory lane of motherhood - back to the day that Calvin wore that green and white knit hat to the beach and...
oh and thanks for showing - they are delightful!!!
two knit bunnies
These are the two bunnies (now finished) I posted about earlier. I gave them to my boys on easter morning. As you can see I felted one much better than the other...I think it's all in the type of soap I used. Using a soap with more detergent in it always seems to felt up better than my all n...
kristen - i love the creatures - can we see them finished! and the feather prints on the eggs are really beautiful, so fine and such a rich colour.
thank you for your lovely comments on the rabbits and the moths. coming from you i take it as a great compliment! and, top marks for spotting the use of the left over blue moth linen.

easter wishes
We decorated eggs mish mash style. A little bees wax drawing on some, rubber bands on others, olive oil in some of the dye bath and some got all three treatments. It was glorious! The boys had so much fun experimenting and I had fun taking part in their joy. I always like to try something...
julie - you are truly amazing! i am so glad to hear that you can look back 12 months and see that things have changed in a good way for you and your precious family. i hope you are having a good easter break.

toby stuff
I do like this little space here. Writing things to share with you really helps me to focus on all that's good and positive in my life and I don't particularly like sharing the negative stuff until I can see some kind of light at the end of that particular tunnel and can finish off what I write ...

we were lucky enough to meet elmo and his puppeteer in new york one morning a few years ago! i love elmo and look forward to tracking down the movie.
13 :: March
In the morning she worked on her Brave Writer class on the front porch, later she read History up in a tree. I didn't really need a reminder about the goodness of homeschooling, but today was an easy one. We saw a movie this weekend that was so wonderful, the trailer alone is an ins...
i love country living (i too have 20 years worth in a pile!) - its always a couple of months out of date by the time it reaches new zealand but i can live with that! i have that picture of the green ottoman with the crocheted afghan on top of it clipped because i want michael to make me one (ottoman that is - i can take care of the 'ghan!)
I adore Zinio! (and no, it isn't a kind of pasta)
Super pretty room, right? It's from the February 2011 issue of Country Living UK magazine. And I didn't have to scrounge around for a back copy, I read it on my iPad through Zinio! It's a nifty app that opened up the world of magazines to me... especially the ones that are difficult (and expe...
ah the push of a button! we gave tommy a turntable, amp and speakers for his 19th birthday the other day - we were spinning some vinyl when the phone rang - can someone pause that he called out. michael and i got a good laugh out of that!
ps loving the wfk x
8 :: February
She is unlike any other. Like cows in a pasture standing in one spot, unmoving for what seems like hours, we find Sukha doing the same in corners of the house. It's the funniest (strangest?) thing and usually involves a sunbeam... eyes heavy with the sheer bliss of it all. February sunbeams, t...
and happy 2012 to you too - may it be filled with love and creativity!
looking forward to seeing what these are going to turn into!

creative spaces
A little sneak peek into my first project of the year.
three bags full - i can't get enough of your shearing stories and i come from the land of sheep (nz)! i am making a foray back into spinning so am very much enjoying your fibrous tales!
Four Sheep Sheared
Am I boring you with all this shearing talk? Can you tell how excited I am to have figured this out? It was a dream of mine for so long to be able to raise sheep, shear them, and turn their wool fleeces into clothing for my family; so this is big. A dream come true. So exciting. So gratifying. A...
she and her wardrobe is amazing and yay for mimi for solving the mystery!
this doll
(a recent thrift store find) with her painted on face and her extensive wardrobe made entirely of linen and created with beautiful details right down to her bloomers and hand crafted hangers has left me baffled. It seems she is not intended for play. I wonder who made her...and why.
they are absolutely gorgeous!
summer is almost here
Melancholy always hits me in waves at this time of year. The end of school, the beginning of summer. I can't quite explain why, but something about this transition gets me every time. We said good-bye to three of our preschoolers on Thursday who are off to kindergarten in the fall...I have...
i love the snow - it looks like mr whippy made a house call! tommy took a drink in the car the other day in a mason jar with a straw! xxx
this week (a little late)
So maybe I should just say last week? Saturday-why do I wonder why my boys get sick at the same time? I couldn't resist how cute they were sharing a jar of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Sunday-farm fresh, delivered by our friends in Wisconsin from their chickens Monday-more and more an...
kristin,
my love and thoughts i send to you at this difficult time. it seems such a scary world we live in now. be strong my friend xxx
hand stitched dish towels + life changes
In my excitement for the new year, I got caught up in thinking I could actually set a short term goal and stick with it. I had wanted to spend the first week of January crafting for my home. I was off to a good start, first with pot holders, then face cloths...and then I started making dish to...
which means winter is a comin' down here - the garden is telling me that anyway.
happy end of season!
welcome, february!
February has arrived in style! Snow on the ground and a high of 4 degrees, with wind chills up to -20. February's best quality is that it's the last month before spring. And I just love spring. 28 days and counting. Spring is a comin'!
these are just gorgeous!
happy new year and thank you for your lovely greeting! x
wool pot holders
My goal this week is to create some things for my home. Pot holders seemed like a good place to start. The ones we currently have in use are well worn, stained, have burn spots, and just don't do the job like they used to. So out with the old and in with the new. I went through my felted wo...

Handmade felt mushrooms and deconstructed berries
Yes! It's finally done... my Mushroom/Berry tree! This project has been in the works for weeks, and I'm so happy to be able to share it with you. It all started when Vicky decided to part with her tall skinny "Alpine" tree and offered it to me. Good fortune! It had lights on it, but they see...
welcome back and merry christmas!
On my Christmas list this year...
Please, Santa?

Oregon Farm Stand
It's Friday already--and the 17th of December at that! My-oh-my the days are just flying by. Does it seem that way for you too? 'Tis the season. I just looked up from my piles of various ongoing projects and realized I hadn't shown you guys the pictures of the FARM STAND. If you missed t...

sweet felt bunny
Last summer I was the lucky winner of a give-away Louise was having on her blog. She had started selling kits of her darling wool bunny in her etsy shop and was willing to give two away. I was the fortunate recipient of one of those kits and just couldn't wait for a quiet moment to stitch it u...
sweet jewels - they are really beautiful!
the art of canning, or canning as art
Earlier this year a dear friend of mine who had recently graduated from college took part in an art exhibit. She had spent the summer working on an organic farm and learned all she could about canning. Her focus was the beauty in the process of canning and to explore how food and art are relat...
oh i am not alone! ripples remains my all time favourite!! and i even made up a dance to trick of the tail (showing age here!) so so good and yay for you tube - i shall drive my family nuts this evening - might even dust off that dance!!
Rediscovering ~ aka driving the family mad.
I have spent the entire week covered in goose bumps and with the odd lump in my throat as I have immersed myself in vintage Genesis. You see it all started the other week when Matthew mentioned that there was a channel on Sky called Sky Arts (or something similar) which showed music documenta...
