Are you breaking up with us?
this post is titled Laika for some reason
When I started my blog almost ten years ago, I made a dedicated effort to write something new every day. I figured that it was good practice for me as a level zero writer, and I also knew that the only way to keep readers engaged was by providing new content all the time. As the years rolled by,...
You always show me the coolest music by really talented people, I'm still in love with Theressa Anderson!! Thanks Wil
Molly Lewis is a national treasure
In the world of entertainment, there are things that make me laugh, there are things that make me cry, and there are the rare things that work on so many different levels, or are so surprising, they simply drop my jaw to the floor and blow my mind. This cover of Poker Face by Molly Lewis is one ...
ok now i'm crying! What a sweet dog!!! Good Riley indeed!!!
in which some comfort is found
I saw Ferris' empty dish last night when I fed Riley, and it unleashed an agonizing wave of sadness so overwhelming, I dropped to the floor in our living room and cried as hard and as long as I ever have in my life. After she was finished eating, Riley came over to me and sniffed at my face. Th...
OMG Wil I've been reading about Ferris for probably 7 of those years, she's family for sure. Such a sweet thing, I bet Anne and the boys are inconsolable as well. I am soooo sorry for you all!
through the fish-eyed lens of tear stained eyes
My dog Ferris, who was rescued from a bus stop in Monrovia by my wife Anne almost exactly 8 years ago, had a heart attack and died this morning. It happened very quickly, and I was with her, which is supposed to make me feel better, but at this moment all I can feel is nearly-unbearable sorrow, ...
You guys look fantastic, I love 80's parties! Does that make me old?
I just wanted to say that I'm a nerd, and I'm here tonight to stand up for the rights of other nerds.
"Hi, Gilbert. I'm a nerd too. I just found that out tonight. We have news for the beautiful people. There's a lot more of us then there are of you. I know there's alumni here tonight. When you went to Adams you might've been called a spazz, or a dork, or a geek. Any of you that have ever fel...
Aw Jeremy (and family)Dammit! I am so sorry!! It's a horrible thing when you have to make that call, I went through the same thing in April and just today I was saying how I really really miss TJ Hooker cramming his head into my bag of Cheetos (he loved Cheetos and pudding)or waiting in the hallway to ambush me. They bring us so much joy when they are here but such exquisite pain when they have to go. I love what Jedivet had to say.
RIP Freddy Snowpants
My brother had one of the coolest cats in the world. We called him Freddy Snowpants, because he had furry fat hind legs that looked like he was wearing snowpants when he walked. One of my favorite things to do was stand behind him and make the "zip zip zip" noise, which always resulted in much m...
I laughed out loud at work so I think it's pretty ok. ;) have a great long weekend!
Boy, there sure is a lot of pain, and it is painful. For Troi and the audience.
...let me tell you all about the pain. I've written enough books and things to identify a few milestones along my creative road. When I was ... well, I almost said 'still figuring this out', like I have it all figured out, which I don't, so I'll try again: When I had even less figured out than I...
That made me laugh out loud so many times, I really wanted to come see you but it was like the first really warm and gorgeous weekend in eons, so you know.... But seriously, you killed and I am so grateful to get to see it and forward it around the world a few times. I remember my dad telling me of a similar experience for himself. (I was then scared to go see it so I rented it and watched it with him.)
in which wil performs some material from the expanded happiest days
Hey look! It's me at the Emerald City Comicon, performing some stuff for the nice people. If the embed isn't working, this link may get you where you want to go. I thought it went well, especially considering that this was the first time any of these stories have been performed for an au...
Thanks for bringing the gorgeous weather with you!!
i'll be at the emerald city comicon in seattle this weekend
I'm going to be in Seattle this weekend for the Emerald City Comicon. I had a blast at this show last year, and I've been looking forward to coming back ever since. I'm coming up a day early to do some media stuff to help promote the con, so if you live in Seattle, you can hear me on KISW 99.9 i...
Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for introducing me to Teresa Andersson. OMG she's amazing!
"And we spoke of the things which Steve would endorse, and revile"
It's one of those weeks where all my creative energy and time is going into projects that pay the bills, so posting here will remain light for at least the next few days, and probably a bit longer. However, this post my friend Cherie wrote about the First Church of the Intergalactic Fruitbat Ste...
What a great story, I swear it was just last year that the both of them were in grade school. Geez, have you had this blog that long???? If I could be guaranteed to get kids as great as yours I would have popped out a few myself. :)
from the vault: the autumn moon lights my way
I reached into the vault and pulled this entry out today because a reader recently commented that it was one of her favorites, and what do you know, it's one of mine, too. When I wrote this, Ryan and Nolan were barely 16 and 14, in the middle of what Anne and I called "The Pod Person Phenomenon"...
Wil, these Rock Band posts have been HAWESOME!! Thanks, and way to go Karen!!
Phoenix Comicon Rock Band Video Roundup
Crazy ideas that may or may not be crazy are taking up pretty much all of my free time this week, so my Phoenix Comicon trip report will have to wait until Monday, but since I promised to deliver a Rock Band roundup before the end of this week, here we go. First up is Karen B., seriously rocking...
Dude! The boys were just babies when I started reading, I get grey hairs just thinking about them driving and going to college, I can only imagine what you guys feel like!
who's gonna drive you home tonight?
Anne and I took Nolan out to Glendale tonight for this art thing he likes to do. After we dropped him off, Anne said, "Hey, I want to have a dinner date with my husband." Bonus, unexpected dinner dates are always awesome, so I didn't even put up token resistance, and we had an awesome meal toget...

Wil, I have those things in my eyes right now watching the East coast Elect Obama. This is soooo exciting!
one lever, pulled.
My voting experience was quick and easy. I think I spent more time confirming my ballot was marked correctly than I spent waiting in line. I guess going in the middle of the morning will do that for you. I wasn't expecting it, but the historical significance of the moment totally overwhelmed ...

Hey Wil, the show's on right now in Seattle, I stayed up to see you and you have not disappointed, this is your creepiest character yet, excellent job!!! I just had to tell you that before I crashed. :) I hope I can go to sleep.
Criminal Minds: The Audition
This is the first of five posts about working on episode four, Paradise, during season four of Criminal Minds. I spoke with CliqueClack.com about some of my production experiences, and I have a gallery of images from the shoot at Flickr. Please note that I've done my best to recreate my interact...

I LOVE Seth McFarland he is incredibly funny and has a fabulous singing voice, If I were the breeding type I'd want to have his children. ;)
When are you on? I want to make sure I clear my appt schedule to watch.
Epic Day dude!
in which wil has a weird (and awesome) day
"wilw: I think I may die from too much fun today. I'm working on Naruto this morning, then Family Guy this afternoon." This morning, I finished my arc on Naruto. I can't say anything specific (I actually shouldn't have said I was working on it at all until it aired. Oops.) but my shows will sta...

OMG I am peeing myself that is so funny, the whole 80's decade just flashed before my eyes. So, SO funny!
Strewn with time's dead flowers
Remember how radical it was when you got your first dirt bike in the 80s? Mine had a red frame, hand brakes, and yellow pads that told the world it was a Red Line BMX. I wish I could say that I was sad to retire the banana seat bike I'd loved since Christmas in 1978, but I was 9, and felt like I...

I agree with Bike Stop, I can't imagine anyone of your many readers who feel like they have gotten a feel for who you are would ever take a comment like that seriously.
On another note I'm bummed I didn't make it to see you in seattle last weekend. I wanted to meet you and tell you that I was the dumb untech savvy girl who asked what "teh" meant on this blog awhile back, and to ask how Chris is doing. Maybe next time. :(
itchy feet and fading smiles
So apparently Jerry O'Connell was on the Howard Stern Show this morning, and claimed that I bullied him when we made Stand By Me. I haven't heard the interview, so I don't have context beyond, "Hey, Jerry says you bullied him when you made that movie," and normally, I'd just laugh this sort of ...

No WAY he's new to photography, I saw his website and he's FANTASTIC!!!! Way to be talented Wheaton spawn!
in which my brother wins a contest and i am proud of him
My brother is a hell of a photographer, and is on the verge of turning his hobby into something much, much more. He took this picture last year, and it instantly became one of my favorites. This morning, he told me that he'd recently entered it in a contest that had hundreds of other entries....
