A bright and talented young man emerges from foster care, moves into a community you are probably afraid to drive through, works to improve his neighborhood, and remains in the urban core to become a much admired and respected leader in his community, he mentors young people, refers to them as 'scholars', connects them with programs and resources to help them stay in school and go on to college, creates and manages programs for the scholars where needed, runs for school board and is elected president before the age of 30 and you call him crazy and belittle him?? The only crazy here is the author of this vile piece.

One blows chucks. The other just blows.
Yes a no-brainer. He was asked to choose between a trusted leader with a long career as a military leader and an entertainer with a radio show. He chose the entertainer. Yep a no-brainer for sure.

John needs to do his homework before sending ignorant letters to the newspaper. There are no stimulus funds going to illegal immigrants.

EL I agree about free speech. On PUBLIC property. Notre Dame is private property so they do have the right to remove protesters on campus. So this isn't the best example of free speech in action.

beaker, your link does not prove Notre Dame didn't invite Obama, which was my point. Alumni upset and threatening to withold donations is not proof the university didn't invite the president. Your insult therefore only makes YOU look bad.

CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION I am grateful the KS lawmakers apparently saw the stupidity in this proposed legislation.

"It’s no accident he chose Notre Dame." Katie, Notre Dame INVITED President Obama to speak. Interesting how you anti-choice zealots don't seem to be angry at Notre Dame.

You are going to have to help me understand this. Why should unions with dues paying members help those who don't pay dues? And aren't you one of the folks complaining about people who don't pay taxes but get help from taxpayer funded govt programs? So if you don't pay taxes, you shouldn't get help from taxpayers, but if you don't pay union dues, unions should spend their money helping you? Is that what you are saying?

And single payer universal health care would cover everyone. Of course, the same insurance companies that aren't covering autism care are lobbying hard against health care reform.

When have we had universal health care? And if you don't like socialism, I take it you pay for private mail delivery and have round the clock security as well as fire fighters on call in case you need them in your gated community? And by the way, don't let socialism ruin your vacation! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QDv4sYwjO0

I am not the one who wrote the letter. And I still don't get it. Why is Katie being congratulated by a FORMER first lady and not the PRESENT one? And why did Pat mention this? Surely he can't be accused of partisan politics. Not Pat! LOL
Former first lady Laura Bush? Why not current first lady Michelle Obama? Is Pat a bit late getting this letter out or was there a reason the former rather than the current first lady congratulated this kid?
I pay taxes in both states. Those of us who cross the state line to work have a vested interest in BOTH states. It's time we get past this state rivalry nonsense. It's petty and childish.
My son's father in law is a doctor from Canada who practices and lives here but gets all of his own health care in Canada. My sister lives in England 3 months a year and gets all of her health care there. Both prefer the health care in the UK because it is BETTER than what we offer here in the US. And far less expensive. And the Brits and Canadians live longer than we do.
