It's hard to trust God when you're facing financial stress. Maybe you know what I'm talking about because you've been there, too. I had the opportunity to chat with Mary DeMuth on her podcast, "ReStory," to talk about how God... Continue reading

On the nights when my mind can't seem to grasp on to any one thought or can't be pushed over the edge into restful sleep, I love to listen to various music and spoken word to calm my mind. Just like the psalmist, I turn to songs in the night. Continue reading

You know, back when all my kids were home, I used to daydream about how clean my house would be after they left. No more bins filled with backpacks, shoes, and rotting lunch bags by the back door. No more... Continue reading

"We should be rigorous in judging ourselves, and gracious in judging others." ~John Wesley Lately, I've been thinking about the art of being gracious. It feels a little old-fashiony and quaint, doesn't it? Graciousness doesn't seem like a trait that... Continue reading

This week, I found something I never knew I needed, but immediately fell in love with: Remote controlled flameless candles. These things are THE BOMB! Oh man. Now, I have always loved candles, and I regularly light them around the... Continue reading

We sang "This is My Father's World" in church yesterday. The opening chords of the song immediately took me back to the first time I heard it sung by a children's choir at a Lutheran summer camp in Minnesota. Their... Continue reading

One of the things I remember most clearly about the afternoon of September 11, 2001 was the silence. The skies were eerily absent of sound. I had never really noticed the near-constant hum of aircrafts...until there was none. All planes... Continue reading

This year, Fridays are normally dedicated to the idea of "beauty," but since the U.S. is inaugurating a new President today, I thought I'd share a beautiful prayer from 1947, when Dr. Peter Marshall, the Chaplain of the U.S. Senate... Continue reading

But first, an embarrassing story. When Toy Story 3 came out in 2010, we were super excited to see it. We had loved Toy Story 1 and 2 – they'd been family favorites and the source of perfect quotes ("That's... Continue reading

What an awesome, thoughtful gift! I was just talking to my daughter Meghan about how we don't like to spend money on cleaners and things that can help keep us organized, like bins and containers. And yet we will buy coffee for 4 dollars....ugh. My under-sink situation needs attention, and I'm so happy to be re-stocking!!

Tam, I know you know how much I love my timer!! I'm always surprised how quickly "that job I thought would take forever" goes. It's especially humbling when I've put it off for a long time.

I also recycle old towels and washcloths for cleaning. Sponges are only for specific jobs - tubs and sinks, but you've made me re-think that. I'm a paper-towel and disposable wipes gal for the other things. Great tip on disinfecting the sponges...or doing away with them!

I'm still lugging my vacuum up and down the steps, but ONE DAY I'll have two vacuums! It will be so much easier. As soon as my son moves all his stuff out of his closet...then I'll have more storage.
