I don't know if the format for online traffic school has changed or not, HOWEVER:
Many years ago when I took the course (to avoid a speeding ticket fine and an insane rise in insurance premium), you were allowed to read ahead. It was basically several pages of reading followed by a quiz page, then more reading, then more quiz, etc.
So, I just skipped forward to the quiz pages, print screened them out, then went through and found all the answers they were looking for. The whole test took an hour and I was done.
And it beat the hell out of sitting there and reading through all that crap.
i've got one more silver dollar
I'm taking a break from my online traffic school (shorter traffic school: Don't be a dick, and slow the fuck down). I got a ticket recently when I misunderstood some confusing lane lines in Burbank. I thought they were telling me I could turn right from the two right-most lanes, but the friendly...
That guy playing Picard looks like him a lot - I had to do a double take. Troi is hot too...I see her in a whole new light now. I think the actors need to go see Ivan Markota though.
Your move, Fan Fiction Writers
This is Safe for Work. As Chris Hardwick says, I think I'm going to buy this, and skip the naughty bits so I can see the story. (There are a bunch of NSFW behind the scenes pictures from actress April O'Neil -- who is a gigantic geek, apparently -- right here.)
As a former actor myself, I can totally relate. It is the best feeling in the world..working on set. Couple that with a project you actually really believe in must be fantastic. I had a small, tiny, virtually nothing role on Enterprise (an episode that LeVar Burton directed) and I can honestly say it was the highlight of my very small acting career (in terms of real roles you can list on your resume). Funny, but I made more money shooting headshots than I did acting. Hmmmm. Go figure.
Eureka rocks.
it's like winning the actor lottery
When we're on location for Eureka, Felicia Day is like my best friend and my younger sister, all at once. We give each other shit all day long, we hang out when we're not working, and we lean on each other when we have those days all artists have that make us question why we thought we could do ...
I had a similar conversation with my dog. His end of it went something like this:
Dude give me a biscuit...
You are so lucky that I cant open the can of dog food myself, if I could you would be so kicked to the curb...
Dude give me a biscuit...
If you only knew where I was licking before I licked you hand
Dude give me a biscuit...
Go get the damn ball yourself...
Dude give me a biscuit...
Why would I want to leave the house...I can lick myself
Dude give me a biscuit...
You said skidmark.
Dude give me a biscuit...
Why would you put your head on my butt pillow?
Dude give me a biscuit...
Tomorrow, I go back to Eureka
“What’s the forecast for Vancouver?” Anne asked. “It’s in the 40s and raining,” I said. “Oh, that sounds awesome,” she said, in a tone of voice that indicated the opposite was actually true. “It’s okay,” I said, “I have my scarf and my jacket and my warm hat.” As I listed each of these items, ...
Speaking of Clerks:
Dante: I could never reach.
Randal: Fuckin' faggot.

I liked the original "Clerks." IMHO - one of Kevin Smith's few moments of genius. Most of his other stuff is a little lazy if you ask me. The ONLY thing I did not like about Clerks is that the retorts came too fast...kind of like...er...should I dare say it? Murphy Brown. Jesus - I can't believe I just compared the two. It's like comparing TNG (Season 4) to DS9 or Hot Apple Pie A La Mode to a piece of shit.

I just saw that David Liss will write Mystery Men - how cool is that?
It's Wednesday, so here's a post about comic books
When I was a kid, I was a DC Universe guy all the way, with rare forays into the Marvel Universe to read a few X-Men books, and the occasional Silver Surfer 100 page spectacular (remember those? I loved those oversized one shots in the 70s and 80s.) I realized last week, though, that the bulk of...
While my wife is in Japan, I confess that I am eating too much microwave food. Any sort of dogs, burritos, etc. I'm kinda mat at myself.
HOWEVER, I have a day now and then where I venture into chef mode and actually cook something. The drag is cooking for one - that blows.
Soup. Black Bean. Hot.
"What are you making?" Anne asked. I looked up from the cutting board, and put the knife down so I wouldn't somehow cut my hand off when I wasn't looking (yes, I am that clumsy). "Black bean soup," I said. "Is it from a recipe, or are you winging it?" "I've made so many different recipes from so...
No long derivative here:
That rocked. Kudos.
Though I hadn't seen him in over twenty years, I knew I'd miss him forever
I stood in the lobby of the Falcon Theater in Toluca Lake, and looked at Twitter while I waited for the rest of the guys to arrive. The walls were covered with posters from productions like CHiPs: The Musical and It's A Stevie Wonderful Life. Being in a theater during the day, when it's just a b...
I don't think I've ever seen so much praise for a pic of someone holding/collating paper.
I could take a pic of myself doing the exact same thing...and I'd bet NOBODY would praise me.
Oh to be famous.
Sigh.
this is for @thebloggess
I have not played Rock Band since the kids moved out and took their gaming consoles with them.
That said, I am a guitarist, and I can play this song in real life...is it THAT much harder in Rock Band?
From the Vault: see this place where stories all ring true
This morning, while driving around town, Anne and I heard Green Grass and High Tides on the radio. It was part of a set of songs with "green" in the title, on account of it being St. Patrick's Day. It's a stretch, but any excuse to play a great song on the radio -- especially a song that's nearl...
My kids have grown up and are off to college, but at their high schools, the math department was so bad, boring, and bland that they would have never even considered having a Pi day. God forbid they do anything to creatively challenge the minds of our youth.
Instead, they sit back on their tenure, tell the kids to read a chapter, and then bang out a standardized test.
I really hate what the public school system has become.
happy pi day, my darling mathletes!
I wrote this in 2004: This morning over breakfast, I said to my wife, "Happy π day!" "Happy pie day? What the hell are you talking about?" "No, not 'pie'," I said. "'π'." "Not 'pie,' but 'pie.'" She was clearly not amused. "Isn't it a little early to be drinking?" "Anne, look at the date on the...

I need some of that luck.
in which a good person is kind
My son Ryan was home from college all week for Spring Break, and I kept expecting him to grab one of my logged-into-Twitter devices to tell the world how awesome I think he is. (I pretend to get all mad, but I secretly love it when he does this.) Today, he went back to school, and I went out to ...
