I love basil and I have to say they are one of the most resilient plants I know. It taste good in almost everything and it adds flavor in a healthier way than salt.
My uncles – a brewer and is diabetic - always said “Alcohol is great for diabetics because it burns calories”. But it was interesting to find in Natural Standards Review on Hops (Humulus lupus) that certain types of Hops have been shown to increase blood sugar.
