Doctor Who reference for the win! Bow ties and bowling shirts are both cool, and so are fezzes.
in which i spend a day as both father and a son
My son Ryan came home for Thanksgiving, and before he left, my dad and I had planned to take him and his brother to play Frisbee golf. When I got up today, it was fifty-seven degrees below zero, and the wind was gusting with gusto (HA HA HA), and I knew the conditions were not, shall we say, opt...
Four days late on account of being unplugged over the holiday, but 1) making a stupid video totally counts as your something creative for the day, and 2) alots are awesome, and I've been a huge fan of Hyperbole and a Half ever since you first tweeted it ages ago.
i got a new t-shirt today ...
I did a bunch of writing this morning, but I still don't have a monster to unleash on the villagers. I'm not going to lie to you, Marge, it's kind of frustrating, and my goddamn inner critic is screaming at me that I'm terrible and it's stupid and they're all going to laugh at me, which doesn't ...
I think I could die happy if you were cast on Fringe. That would be AMAZING. Can you tell us anything about the role you were up for?
Hank Scorpio would really appreciate it if you'd read this post
So, some of you may know that Evil Wil Wheaton is tormenting Sheldon Cooper again this Thursday at 8pm on CBS ... but for those of you who don't, I made a stupid video to help you remember: In other news, I did not book the job I auditioned for last week. The feedback I got was that I ga...
What a lovely, lovely post. I experienced that same moment of "I can't believe I'm lucky enough to get paid to do this" earlier today after spending two hours holding snakes and alligators and talking to people about them at a local festival. As I was walking back to my car I stopped and though, wow, I've gotten to a point in my life where that is really part of my paying job. I am so incredibly lucky.
This is a very, very good life, and I'm grateful for it.
It's quiet outside my office window, like the heat and humidity is sort of absorbing and muffling most of the sounds that usually come through during a typical Saturday morning. All I really hear is birds singing, the occasional drone of a distant train, and the low rumble of thunder out over th...
Thanks as always for the Facebook heads-up. I find Facebook to useful as a tool for keeping in touch with people I might not otherwise to give it up, but yeah, the privacy issues are a nightmare.
I was pretty frustrated to not be able to use Hulu when I was traveling in Australia last year, but the U.S. isn't the only country guilty of this sort of thing - as an American who loves British television, not being able to access the BBC's iPlayer from the States is a huge bummer.
random thoughts from vancouver
I have a late call today, so I have some time to write. Yaaaaay. Here's a few things that have been on my mind in the last, oh, 36 hours or so. So that silly thing Paul and Storm and Adam and I did sort of took off, didn't it? I'm thrilled that so many people found it as entertaining and amusing...
Wait, you're coming to Indianapolis the WEEK AFTER I move from western Ohio to Georgia? *cries*
OH HAI IM IN UR GENCONZ ROLLIN MAH DIZE!
I'm coming to Gen Con! If you like playing nerdy games, even a little bit, you owe it to yourself to go to a game con. There are awesome regional cons happening all the time, like the Strategicons we have here near LAX, and RinCon in Tucson, but the biggest one of all is Gen Con. I've wanted to ...
Sweet! I got a mite distracted by the use of Forbidden Planet clips (IT'S MORBIUS! Oh no, wait, it's supposed to be Vader!) but that doesn't make it any less amazing.
The Empire Strikes Back (1950)
I think this may be the most impressive Star Wars parody/tribute/whatever I've ever seen, and I've seen some truly great ones. This makes me want to do a 13 episode webseries, probably serialized 3 minutes at a time, that's entirely done in the 1950s Sci-Fi style, with locations at Vasquez R...
