I am not completely sure what you are asking. 30s on/off is a 1:1 work to rest ratio. But this does not mean you simply do that multiple times until you reach the length of a game. Many parts of the game are very short while at the same time players will get big chunks of time off (e.g. quarter breaks or 1/2 time). USing a variety of work:rest ratios would be most beneficial.
