Prior to that, he had worked for many great houses, including a stint as president of Chalone Wine Estates In 2002, Gary started COHO, focusing on cool climate vineyards in Napa Valley. COHO produces single vineyard Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The merlot comes from one of Mark and Francis' favorite sources, The Michael Black Vineyard. The Dean of Mezcal Ron Cooper Will be at Stage Left Steak Sunday, June 10 Ron, more than any living person, is responsible for bringing true quality mezcal to The United States and beyond. The good stuff 'el mejor' is, and has always been, produced by Zapotec or Mixe or Mixteca people, who speak their own ancient dialects that have nothing to do with Spanish. These peoples live in isolated areas of Oaxaca. They feel it is bad luck to wander farther than the next village and so their pure mezcals wouldn't even make it as far as the Oaxacan... Leah Jorgensen Wines of Oregon Thur, May 24 @ 7 PM $139 It was almost 20 years ago that I first visited Oregon. Back then, it was a land of great oenological promise, but truly stunning wines were few. Twenty years later some of that promise has come true, and we're learning more with each passing year. For example, Leah Jorgensen has taught us that Pinot Noir isn't the only game in town for extraordinary Oregon reds. In her capable hands, Oregon Cabernet Franc sings! Don't miss the opportunity to have these wines with Dinner They are stunning (and incredible... Continue reading
