Small correction: Netflix does have the feature you suggest. It's possible to create sub-accounts (Netflix calls them profiles) with independent queues and recommendations, and parcel out the subscription's rental privileges among them.
Netflix at one time planned to remove this feature, but decided not to do so after users complained.
