I can't beleive that TNT hasn't fired Barkley. He can't even talk correctely. You can't understand him, he's awful. He continues to go against the Heat, predicting that the Pacers will win the first game of the series and win the entire series. That God! he's off again!
Bad coach, sad Chuck: A six-pack of obs on Heat's Game 1 thriller; plus new Heat song, LeBron's latest honor, Urban Beach Week, Sad-O-Meter & more
1) It is THURSDAY, MAY 23. We're back! Blog was held hostage by technical issues yesterday but we seem to be back [Archaic Reference Alert] shining like a Mercury dime today. Thanks for the patience. 2) Pictured right: Pacers fan lends new definition to phrase, "Be Careful What You Wish For." ...
Yeah, the Heat has had a great regular season no doubt. However; it's Playoff time, although they beat the Bucks in 4, they didn't dominate a 8th seed. Bucks were in the game 3 out 4 games losing it in the final minutes. Battier, Allen are in a shooting slump, again didn't dominate a depleted Bulls team. Still haven't seen them dominate thus far, maybe they don't have to ?
Heat players keep adding weapons; UM/NCAA, Dolphins, Marlins chatter
SUNDAY BUZZ COLUMN There is so much to appreciate with this Heat team: the individual excellence of the stars, the sacrifices many of the players have made, the crisp ball movement. Here’s another that is sometimes easier to overlook: How the players have worked tirelessly to expand their skill...
when I played football and the QB said to go at half speed that meant he had no arm strength (red flag). UM seems to be confused as to what type of QB they want for the future. This bothers me, haven't you learned from the past, Have an identity and stick with it. Get a QB that fits your Offense. Spread QB's like Brock Berlin & Jacory Harris did awful in a pro style Offense.
UM adds a QB; Tannehill loves his new weapons, speaks of his improvement;Fins, Heat, Marlins chatter
Quick Monday update: West Hills Chaminade (Cal.) three-star quarterback Brad Kaaya orally committed to UM today, choosing the Canes over San Diego state. He's the second QB oral commitment in this UM class, but it's not certain if the other (Hialeah's Alin Edouard) will be part of this class. Ka...
What happened to the crowd at the AAA. They didn't help the Heat in the final minutes. I know Lebron got off to slow start, rest of the team was rusty. Saw some bad habits appearing again. Too much standing around and dribbling, not enough passing. This is not the Bucks you are playing against. Get it together.
A dozen postscripts from Heat-Bulls Game 1; Rose, LeBron notes; NCAA news
Twelve postscripts from this stunning Heat loss in Game 1: ### The Bulls are 9-8 against the Heat in the Big Three era - the only Eastern Conference team with a winning record against Miami since LeBron came aboard, according to ESPN. That includes a 3-2 record this season. ### This was just Mia...
Who ever that person is who voted Melo MVP should have his voting previlges taken away from him. He should not be able to vote again in B-ball. What was that guy smoking?
Who's the idiot? LeBron 1 vote shy of unanimous for MVP; plus new NBA playoff odds, Dolphins' big loss, Tyson Clabo, Sad-O-Meter retired & more
1) It is SUNDAY, MAY 5. Happy Cinco de Mayo! 2) NCAA refuses to dismiss UM case in advance of June hearing. "No duh," says rest of America. 3) Click on Random Evidence for today's Sunday notes column, leading with Heat playoffs. 4) In The Previous Blogpost (ITPB): The building and branding of ...
That one columnist who didn't vote for Lebron should have his head examined. Are you kidding me?
Fins to sign Clabo; Golden quantifies NCAA damage; Shapiro explains K. Wright move; Fins, Heat, Marlins
The Sunday buzz column is below. First, some breaking Dolphins news: The Dolphins addressed their void at offensive tackle on Sunday by agreeing to terms with veteran Tyson Clabo on a one-year deal. Clabo, 31, has started every game at right tackle for the Atlanta Falcons over the past five se...
I seriously doubt that Michel grew up a UGA fan. Another bad decesion made by a young man. UM will have the best O-line in the South. No Little Haiti in Red neck Athens. UGA has never set the bar high. All u kids have to do is stay and UM will win again. Let UGA get a running back from GA.
Canes miss out on Michel, but tailback tandem of the future could be at Miami Central
Heralded Plantation American Heritage five-star running back Sony Michel made his college announcement Friday and it wasn't what the Hurricanes were hoping for. Two thirds of this talented Miami Central trio -- Joseph Yearby and Trevor Darling -- are trying to convince Dalvin Cook (right) to c...
Great job Barry! It's obvious that the NCAA will cover its compromised investigation. My question is, can UM bring an outside source,to hear both sides. If not UM doesn't stand a chance to defend themselves. Keep up the good work Barry!
NCAA response to UM has omissions, faulty logic; Dolphins, Heat chatter
SUNDAY BUZZ COLUMN News and views on the NCAA’s UM investigation: ### What stood out about the enforcement staff’s response to UM’s motion to dismiss were glaring omissions and in some cases, dubious defense, of its objectionable conduct. As UM’s motion asserted, 20 of the NCAA’s allegations ag...
Sony don't go to UGA, they are not committed to winning a National Championship. They don't have the bar very high.
What the draft pundits would do if they were Ireland; Canes, Heat, Marlins, radio
FRIDAY BUZZ COLUMN So we all know ESPN’s Mel Kiper believes Alabama right tackle D.J. Fluker makes the most sense for the Dolphins’ pick at No. 12. Here’s what some of the other evaluators say they would do if they were in Jeff Ireland’s shoes: ### NFL Network’s Mike Mayock: He said even though ...
Hubie Brown said it best about the Heat. Teams know that the Heat will win a game at their place, which means they must win two games at the AAA. With the bench playing the way they are right now, I don't see any team East or West beating them four games.
UM football spring postscripts, notes; Fins bring in more players; Heat, Marlins
SUNDAY BUZZ COLUMN UM people have said all spring how improved the defense looks. Saturday’s spring game didn’t produce a lot of evidence to support that, with two big caveats: 1) Much of the damage was done against the “white team” unit that had only two defensive starters, and 2) UM was run...
Sounds like to me, that the NCAA will being cleaning house after the UM case. Heads will roll, Emmert and Hannah will be the first. UM will have the last laugh.
Thursday update: Fins sign player; Heat, UM quick hits; More unethical behavior in UM/NCAA case
Our Wednesday evening story on the NCAA's latest unethical behavior in the UM case is below, for those who may have not seen it yet. But first, a six pack of Thursday quick hits: ### The Dolphins view defensive lineman Vaughn Martin, who agreed to terms with Miami on Thursday, as an upgrade ove...
It's great to be a Miami Hurricane! Larkin should be ACC player of the year. UM should take over Kansas as a #1 seed. Gonzaga &us only teams to win both regular season & conference champs. Committee says body of work, we'll see. Um needs big Reggie to show up if they want to get far in the tourney.
Miami's St. Patrick's Day Basketpalooza!: Canes win ACC title, earn No. 2 seed in NCAAs; Heat win 22nd straight; plus annual Haiku Challenge on deck

Thanks Barry, regardless the end is near. I feel confident that there will be nothing major ahead. Got to stay positive Canes fans and cheer for our B-Ball team. Go Canes!
Thursday update: Ireland updates free agency; UM case could be delayed again
Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland spoke to reporters at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis earlier today. Here are a few nuggets; also check out Armando's blog with other comments from Ireland: ### Ireland said he wants Reggie Bush back (though it's clear he has a price in mind and doesn't want to exceed it...
Lorenzo Carter a 6' 6" DE from Norcross HS is a UM target for next year. He is averaging 15 points a game. He's another candidate for f-ball & b-ball
UM adds highly-touted Texas WR/TE Derrick Griffin to 2013 signing class
Just when you thought the Canes had wrapped up the 2013 Signing Class, Brennan Carroll's bat signal on Twitter went off again Tuesday evening. Derrick Griffin, a 6-6, 210-pound receiver from B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg, Texas who also is a budding basketball star, faxed a signed a Nation...
Sue them, this investigation has been compromised. Cristobol you are fake.
Shalala lashes out, says UM deserves no more penalty; Emmert says no settlement; NCAA pays Nevin Shapiro; live blog of UM case
More news from the UM/NCAA saga today: UM president Donna Shalala came out swinging tonight, calling on the NCAA to end its investigation into the UM case and saying the Hurricanes deserve no more penalties. UM will be very aggressive in fighting this. Scroll down to the bold section to see her ...
Bloggers here in GA and NC are calling UM a One Year wonder. That might be true. With 6 seniors, UM will need a close on the NCAA case, so that Coach "L" can get a solid recruiting class. Hopefully, this will be a start of things to come for UM B-ball. Go Canes! I better start saving money for the Final four in the GA Dome.
The skinny on Marlins pitching staff; UM/NCAA update; Canes, Heat, Dolphins chatter
Note: This buzz column leads with the second of our two-part series on the Marlins, aimed to coincide with the start of spring training and to familiarize readers with the team. If you are angry with the Marlins to the point you have lost interest, or didn't have interest to begin with, then ski...
Alabama wants another S.Fla Coach for recruiting purposes. Don't beleive for one minute they are interested in Mario for his Coaching abilities. Plan B is the coach from UCF and plan C is one from S.Carolina. Saban won't dare show his face in S.Fla. Mario we'll see if you really bleed Orange and Green
Cristobal, Alabama talk; Chatter on Marlins offense; Heat-Thunder postscripts; Canes, Fins notes
Quick Friday update: Mario Cristobal, UM's associate head coach and tight ends coach, has interviewed with Alabama for the vacant offensive line coaching job on Nick Saban's staff, according to a source. The story was first reported by InsideTheU.com and confirmed by a source. Cristobal is one o...
Make some noise ! This success has to be good news for recruiting for Coach "L" and tha Canes. Barry do we have any blue chippers in the works?
Monday night quick hits: UM hoops, Heat, football
Some Heat and football quick hits, and feedback on UM being rated No. 3 in the AP poll – its highest men's basketball ranking ever – behind only Indiana and Duke: ### Dick Vitale said UM actually should be No. 2, behind only Indiana, considering it thrashed Duke. ESPN analyst and former Tennesse...
If we get Collins, I'll be satisfied with the Offense. On Defense, the secondary I'm happy with. That's when the happiness is over. The D-Line was a big disappointment. I only wonder, is it the sanctions or is it Coach D.
Golden talks recruiting "cloud." Grade Canes' class. Poll. Vote!; plus SI swimsuit cover, UM's new AD, LeBron/Wade 30-30 Club, Dolphins draft & more
[1) It is FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8. Pictured here is the leaked cover of the upcoming 2013 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. It's Kate Upton! Again! (Not that there's anything wrong with that...) 2) Miami Hurricanes today promoted interim athletic director Blake James to fulltime AD. 3) In The Prev...
Collins will have the worst O-Line in the SEC in front of him. Shannon will bring his vanilla Defense to ARK. Sounds like Collins will have a great career in Walmart
Canes should find out about DT Brooks Tuesday around lunchtime
The next recruiting sweepstakes involving the Canes will take place around 1 p.m. Tuesday when Navarro (Corsicana, Tex.) junior college defensive tackle Terrell Brooks (6-4, 300) chooses between Kansas State, Baylor and Miami. “I have a pretty good idea, but I want to get a few things cleared up...
Oh well Collins, smart move going to Arkansas. When your career goes down hill you can always land a job at Walmart.
UM players disappointed by Collins; Canes recruiting update; Heat
With Alex Collins announcing Monday night that he's committing to Arkansas, UM badly needs Staten Island-based running back Augustus Edwards to choose the Hurricanes over FSU. A few Canes reacted on Twitter to Collins choosing the Razorbacks over UM, UF and Wisconsin: "Wow, man, really thought ...
I thought with the NCAA blonder, that the door will open for the local kids. It is reasonable that we could get modest sanctions. Unless these kids are playing UM? I don't get? I could only guess what is going on behind closed doors. Go Canes!
UM recruiting update with Signing Day looming; NFL media column
Five days before National Signing Day, here’s the most stunning factoid about UM’s recruiting class: The Canes have as many commitments from players who grew up in Nigeria as they do from recruits who attended high school in Dade or Broward. As one clever fan cracked to Manny Navarro on Twitter,...
Shannon was hired by Arkansas for his recruiting in south Fla. Not on his coaching ability's. RB Alex Collins has had at least six un-official visits at UM. If he can't make up his mind by now, then set him free. Kirkland and Thomas was talked about earlier as a combo deal. I wonder if that has changed. Thomas visited Kiffin over the weekend. Thomas what ever you do, don't trust Kiffin. He is a snake in the grass.
Ireland addresses a few issues; Dolphins, Canes, Marlins quick hits
A couple quick things from Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland's briefing with reporters this afternoon at the Senior Bowl: ### He said he wants to re-sign Reggie Bush and Jake Long (though it's clear Miami won't overpay for either). He called the Long talks "a very complex negotiation." ### He said Miami ...
For Recruiting, Heck yeah!. We have lost a few Assistant Coaches lately, to Alabama and now Arkansas. They hired these guys for Recruiting in South FLA. "Not for their coaching ability's". But, it's hard to accept a guy that doesn't have much experience as a OC. That would be a concern. I hope Jedd left his play book.
Is FSU offensive coordinator James Coley a candidate for Jedd Fisch's old job at UM?
The rumors are spreading: Florida State offensive coordinator James Coley could be Miami's next offensive coordinator. Settle down Canes fans. This Coley story is just rumor-driven for now. Nothing we've heard out of UM today or even FSU suggests Coley is in the running. We're not even sure he'...
D-line is a huge area of concern for UM. I don't like the fact that we are only entertaining 2 propects. Golden should have 4 or 5. Getting local talent is always welcome, however; we are deep at most positions. On the "Heat" since when is Battier become a shooter. (0 for 10 shooting)who cares! we brought him in for "D". The concern is for the real shooters Allen and Lewis. They are not meeting expectations. The Heat lives off Defense and running. If three's fall they become unbeatable. I hope they can get back on track.
Fisch leaving UM; big recruiting weekend for UM; Kobe credits Heat "psychopath"
Saturday morning update: UM confirmed that offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch is leaving to become offensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fisch and new Jaguars coach Gus Bradley previously worked together on the Seattle Seahawks staff. It's a big loss for UM ---- only 12 college play ...
