From Fidelity National Title: The Week in Review MONDAY, March 19th The NAHB housing market index was unchanged at a level of 28 in March. This follows five straight gains in a row in the prior five months. In March, homebuilders downgraded current sales slightly while upgrading sales projections six months from now indicating a more positive outlook for residential construction. While improved over the last several months, a reading below 50 indicates weak homebuilder sentiment which is usually reflected in slow construction activity. For the first five months of the fiscal year, the cumulative budget deficit totaled $580.8 billion vs. a $641.3 budget deficit for the same period one year earlier. This follows a downwardly revised decline of 0.5% in December to an annual pace of 4.38 million. For all of 2011 sales totaled 4.28 million.
