League will have to allow Hornets to move Paul sooner or later. Otherwise they'd be acting against New Orleans', and thus league's, self-interest. Next October Paul will not be wearing Hornets jersey anyway, so they might as well get some talent in return.
BREAKING: Chris Paul to LA deal is OFF
Twitter / @sam_amick: Executive involved in the ... via kwout What.. The... HELL.... Is going on in the NBA? I'm at a total loss. Stay tuned, I guess. UPDATE: Per Woj: The NBA has caved to pressure from owners that the appearance of this deal, on heels of lockout, had to be stopped,...
Remember that DA said on nba.com that regular season could be extended by 7-10 days, which would help Celtics a lot.
Your Morning Dump... The short schedule could benefit Boston
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump Shortly after the season-ending loss in Miami last May, a conversation with a ranking Celtics [team stats] official turned towar...
We all appreciate your constant activity, which I can imagine is no easy since save for a post about a lockout every other day there is just not that much to talk about when it comes to basketball.
Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do. Just wait.
Why I will always go back to the NBA
This is from a piece I wrote for Crossover Chronicles: Basketball has been there for me. In high school, in college, and even beyond. It has taken me around the country and around the world. And now, basketball keeps giving back to me by fueling a passion that fills these, and other pages. No m...
I remember you writing that teams should just stop overpaying for mediocre players and how that would solve their financial problems. That's not quite true. The problem arises when Lakers, Mavs or any other rich team pays big bucks for an average players. Bidding war begins and you see Bucks or Pacers unable to create a good roster.
With a hard cap good player will still earn more than bad players. Just not as much as they do now. And the level across the league would be a little more even. Heck, maybe Wolves could even win 30 games few years down the road.
Why Wyc is pushing for a hard cap
When I first heard that Wyc Grousbeck was a hard-liner who was willing to lose a season to the lockout, I thought he was flat-out nuts. But that's because I thought of things from a fan perspective. I thought "hey, Boston's one of the big-market teams. We can keep on winning as long as he k...
Don't treat is as a sign that lockout will end soon. It's Ray Allen. He would be out there practicing even if everyone knew the season will be canceled. Tell me when Jermaine O'Neal is hitting the court.
Ray Allen Preparing for Training Camp to Begin on Time
Ray Allen was recently getting some late summer run in at his alma-mater, UConn, with fellow Husky Donny Marshall. Dom Amore of the Hartford Courant caught up with Ray before he could sneak out and got a few tidbits from him, with the following being the most interesting: After several games, ...
This series basically showed what's so amazing about this team. In each game different player was the top scorer. Game 1 it was Ray Allen, Game 2 Rondo, Game 3 Pierce and Game 4 Garnett.
If Baby and starters keep it up, and we get some decent contribution from West and Green, I do not see why we could not bring Miami down. I'd say that both O'Neals are sort of a wild card. It feels a lot like last year. We were considered underdog coming into each series.
Philly also made us a favor today, but Miami is going to win Game 5.
Recap: Celtics complete mercy kill of Knicks
Three days ago, the world was wondering what was wrong with the Celtics? They were a team of aging veterans lucky to have survived the first two games of their playoff series with NY. They certainly don't look like championship contenders, said the impulsive and ill-informed. Seventy-two hou...
Also, Andrew Bynum's mandatory annual injury just happened.
Worried about the Cs? Listen to Ric Bucher
ESPN basketball analyst Ric Bucher was on WEEI this morning. And despite the dire tone of John Dennis and Gerry Callahan (they make me look like an eternal optimist), Bucher expressed confidence in the Celtics ability to make it through the Eastern Conference. Listen Here. Bucher gave the Knicks...
While I do know that such thing as Google Maps exist, could someone living in Boston longer than I have tell me if there's a reasonable way to get to this theater via public transportation? Google Map all you want, but there's nothing like a good tip from a local.
"The Auerbach Dynasty" opens this Friday!
I'm very excited for this coming Friday. Ken Dooley's play, "The Auerbach Dynasty", based on his friendship with Arnold "Red" Auerbach opens at the Park Theater in Cranston, R.I. John and I have been invited to be Ken's guests for the evevning, and it's truly an honor. You can listen to an int...
I'm just frustrated at this point. A month ago I was thrilled by the kind of season we were having. Top seed in the East seemed to be easily within reach, and overall we would be just behind San Antonio. Now it looks like we are on our way to #3, which would probably make us play Miami and Chicago. In other words, the excellent first half of the season would completely go to waste and it would not be a significant improvement over last year.
I still hope they will get their act together and show some fight before the playoffs, but I think I am just fooling myself. Last year they completely gave up in April and woke up for Miami in the 1st round. Could happen again, but we should not be going through this.
Recap: The Celtics continue to drive me mad
(AP Photo/Michael Conroy) Ugh. How many ways can I say the Celtics are playing like crap? Here's the definition of inconsistency: The Celtics scored 33 points in the 1st quarter, 16 in the 2nd quarter, 36 in the 3rd quarter and 15 in the 4th quarter. KG had 6 points, 6 rebounds in 24 foul-pla...
Doc should bench Rondo just to send the message. And if the original Big Three is underperforming, just put Green or Baby in, let them play 35 minutes. Everyone has to work hard to earn the right to play with a green jersey. No exceptions.

I still remember the 2008 loss. It was a heartbreak. When Rondo missed these two free throws, I thought 'well, at least we have an overtime'. We all know how it turned out.
House of Horrors
Oakland's Oracle Arena. The Boston Celtics' house of horrors. Since 2003, December 29th, 2003 to be exact, the C's have been unable to pull out a win at Oracle. Could it be GSW's usually frenetic, fast-paced offense that wears the C's down? Or is it the sellout crowds that have made Oracle one...
