I'm also curious why you finally decided to get a Facebook page. Sorry if I missed you talking about this before here on your blog or on Twitter.
ECCC Programming Question: What do you want to hear at the Awesome Hour?
I've been working on Big Bang Theory for the last week. We tape tonight, and tomorrow I immediately start work on an audiobook*. The upshot of this is that I won't have a lot of time to build a setlist for my Awesome Hour at Emerald City Comicon this weekend. So this is where you come in. I need...
Being about three weeks older than you, I really enjoy your tales of childhood gaming Ooohing and Ahhing, like the Shakey's Pizza story you did last year. Also, ones about gaming with Anne are pretty hilarious as my husband is a big gamer and I'm only in it for the beer. :o)

My husband was there all three days, soaking it all in, more or less. He even got a friend to stand in line with him to get into the Paramount to see the D&D action. He claims, it was the best wait ever. :o)
Your panel was at my mom's work, and she got to see and hear your panel, which was a highlight for her. She also hopes you weren't creeped out by the snack basket she provided to your hotel room. She's a convention servies manager, PAX and ECCC are two conventions she works every year, which both include you and thus she's become a big fan over the years. Anyhoo, no harm, no foul, just Guinness and snacks. What what!
How was your PAX?
I'm on set for Eureka, tethering to the Internets through a mobile hotspot, using my iPad to post with the Typepad app. This is, as they say, less than optimal for blogging. However, I wanted to put a post up for PAX stuff, until I can write a proper post in the next few days. I had a wonderful ...
As always, welcome back to Seattle and PAX! I'll be a PAX widow this year, but fear not! My mom (Leslie McKenzie) and I have talked about your welcome basket for your hotel room in copious details, and we hope you like pistachios.
Also, thanks again for being in EUREKA! I shall refrain from whinging about season 5 being its last season. Just so glad you're apart of it.
And finally, the family and I have caught up through season 4 of THE GUILD, and man! Did your scenes look too damn fun to film. Seriously, how much awesome was that?
Much respect and appreciation, Jaz
This is a post about PAX Prime, which is suddenly upon us.
It's raining in Vancouver. Little rivulets of water are running down the window, as low clouds slowly move across downtown, swallowing up the tops of buildings as they roll by. I have a late call today. I'm in one scene, and then I'm off until next Monday. Tomorrow morning, I'm going home to get...
Hiya Wil,
Thanks for always making time to come up to our little hamlet on the water and mingle with us mortals.
Seriously though, could you be any more easy to talk to and relate to? Of course, you being a mere three weeks younger than me probably helps. Your story about the arcade at Shakey's hit home with me. We had those in Tucson, where I grew up. I remember the arcade by the movie theatre called The Gold Mine and I wanted to live there, between the Joust and Dragon's Lair.
Anyhoo, thanks for being so approachable and normal. Also, hope you don't get tired of receiving awesome amenity baskets when you stay at a certain Seattle hotel.
Don't forget to play that quarter, Wil. Play it well.
See ya next year!
Emerald City Comicon after action report
ECCC has officially joined PAX on the List of Conventions I Don't Ever Want To Miss. It's well-organized, staffed by competent and friendly volunteers, and has what is, in my opinion, the perfect balance of comics and popular geek culture. This year, I had to leave Saturday afternoon to fly home...

Super mega awesome epic amenities basket of epicness awaits you!
My Emerald City Comicon schedule, and an ultra-limited merchandise thingy
Tomorrow, I head up to glorious Seattle for the Emerald City ComiCon. I'm doing the usual storytellings and autograph signings, though I have to leave on Saturday due to an unfortunately-timed family commitment. I'm hosting an Awesome Hour on Friday at 4pm, and I'll be on The Guild panel with Am...
Well-written, Wil. Thanks for that.
I recall Static Shock coming on Saturday mornings and I really liked it, so much so I made a point to watch it. Yes, an adult purposely watching Saturday morning cartoons doesn't get one too many dates, any at all really, but it was always time well spent. He was deeply talented, and you were fortunate to work with him.
in remembrance of Dwayne McDuffie
Last night, I met my friend Amy Berg (who created Cha0s on Leverage, and brought me into Eureka as Dr. Parrish) down in Hollywood for dinner. Traffic was horrible (surprise) so she'd been waiting almost 20 minutes when I finally walked into the restaurant. While I scanned the crowd to find her,...
Finally! you announce coming to ECCC!
My mom's in hospitality and is working with the guys putting on ECCC. She had a meeting last week and wanted to know from me what she should follow up with them about. I told her they need to bring in Robert Kirkman, figure out when James Marsters Friday panel is (at the time, the schedule had it at 3pm but the detail had it listed at 4pm), and when in the GD hell is Wil Wheaton going to be on the program list.
Later that night I got, "Kirkman: hopefully next year; Marsters: now at 5pm; The Wheat is at 4pm!" Wheeeeeee!
Okay, my mom didn't refer to you as The Wheat. I just did that now, but you know, I'm liking it. Might have you sign my Toy Soldiers DVD with that. Hehheh.
Also note to self: start working on your amenties basket of Epic Awesome. Guinness, bacon popcorn...
a few programming and personal appearance notes
If everything goes according to plan, I should release Hunter later today. It's 2500 words, about the length of what you'd read in a magazine, I think, and I'm pricing it at 99 cents, for people who want to buy it. I'll eventually put it here or wil wheaton books for free, for those of you who a...
My daughter's preschool/child care in the Pike Place Market would get donated CSA bags every other week. As a favorite of the office ladies, my family and I would get one each time. Such a wonderful treat, expecially getting items you wouldn't normal eye in the produce dept. It certainly renewed my interest in greens of all sorts: collard mustard, chard, etc. I'm going to explore the financial opportunity with my husband and maybe we can join CSA next year. Thanks for this, Jen.
Community-Supported Agriculture: How to decide if a CSA is right for you and your family
By Jen A few years ago, a close colleague of mine decided to leave her job in book publishing to become a farmer and run a local CSA. CSAy what? I asked. She wanted to do something more fulfilling with her life than being a desk jockey, and working on a farm to bring fresh, organic produce to fr...
Great recommendations. I've only ever eaten at Cafe Campagne once but it still stick swith me as one of the most memorable breakfasts.
I'd suggest dim sum from Jade Garden in the Internation District, kickass delit sammies from Tat's Deli in Pioneer Square, and midday sweet treat from Grand Central Bakery, also in Pioneer Square.
I adore Hattie's Hat, in Ballard. Dive? Yes. Delicious and delightful? YES! They've got a spinach casserole that's wicked tasty, and included on their happy hour menu.
Eat Your Heart Out: A Culinary Tour of Seattle
By Jen Whenever someone asks me for restaurant suggestions in Seattle, I feel nostalgic for the first time my husband and I visited our now-hometown, when we fell in love with the idea of someday moving here based solely on the food we ate over the course of one weekend. Now that we live in Sea...
You are so absolutely right about oven temps. Thanks for the reminder to pick up a good oven thermometer. You should do a post about those awesome homemade ginormous Oreo-type cookies. :o)
How to Make: Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies
By Jen I'm no expert when it comes to baking, but I do think I've mastered the art of making the perfect chocolate chip cookie. It doesn't really matter if you're using a recipe on the back of a bag of chips or a more complex method that requires you freeze the dough for at least 24 hours (I'm s...
Oh wow! *wipes tears of awesomeness*
These are the moments when the internet redeems itself. Gawd bless us, everyone.
Wesley Crusher's Sweet-Ass Motherfucking Bouffant
When I was a teenager pretending to fly a spaceship, I got to do a lot of really cool things with a lot of really cool people. The price of admission to this wonderful world, though, was the most annoying hairdo I've ever experienced in my life. I called it Wesley's Helmet Hair, because it did n...

Finally! I'm not one to be all "I know what's right so shut the f**k up!" Well, actually I am, but anyhoo! I knew from day one watching Eureka that you'd be a choice actor to have on that show and as a part of that world (not to get all Aladdin/Disney on you). I'm really looking forward to this Friday's episode, but I'm always looking forward to Eureka. It is such a wonderfully nerdy, techy soup of humor and smarts. Yay!
Colin Ferguson and me, on acting
This was filmed by one of the producers, near the end of a very, very long day on the set of Eureka: We're obviously having fun and being silly, but there is an element of truth to what we said: we have a good time when we bring these characters to life, but it really does require a great d...

Nice floor! And can you believe some people would still have pulled out all that lovely parquet flooring? Good work to both you and Anne.
If you skip Voodoo Donuts, maybe a burlesque show would fit into your schedule? I hear Portland has some neato ones. I also need to take your advice about taking the train from Seattle to Portland. How freakin' economical is that?! *slaps forehead*
nobody can see in our holler tree
Tomorrow morning, I leave for Portland, where I'll spend an all-too-brief week working on Leverage. For those of you who don't know, I'm a recurring character on Leverage. I play a computer hacker called Cha0s, who is a nemesis to the Leverage team, but especially to Hardison. I first played th...
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Ahem, er, I mean, SAH-WEET! The awesomeness of living in Seattle just gets better and better.
in which w00tstock 2.0 and 2.0.1 are announced
When we did w00tstock 1.x last year, we all hoped it would be successful enough to warrant taking the show on the road to some of our favorite cities. Well, w00tstock 1.x was so much fun for us and the audiences who saw it, it didn't just warrant it, it WINGER'd it. Hell, it may even have Damn Y...
