Because the Duncroft women have become uninformative, two quick points for them. Please learn to read thoroughly, when it comes to posts over here. I said that I didn't POST over at the mud puddle and, additionally, if I can't have a laugh, i.e. grammar and spelling, then what's the... Continue reading

I hope he knows how many people support him, that's all.

Photo: Savile visits with girls and staff at Duncroft, 1974. My grandmother used to say "Don't mock the afflicted." I try to obey that rule, but when it comes to the 70sDuncroft foodie blog, I can't help myself, at least as far as grammar is concerned. Best to let things... Continue reading

Moor Larkin, a fellow blogger interested in getting to the bottom of the Savile hysteria, made the following comment recently. It was so insightful, that I thought it was worth sharing here. "One thing that has occurred to me is that the Duncroft allegations were pretty small fry, until they... Continue reading

This is very true and glad you said it. I hope that any Duncroft women who review this blog will give it some serious thought.
I hope this will be informative for those of you who have a passing sympathy for or are 'victims' of Jimmy Savile's, panting for restitution. You ain't gonna get a dime out of this. Your lawyers likely are, and they probably did waaaaay more work than they are going to... Continue reading

Of course, we should have expected the 70sDuncroft contingent to attempt to strike back in their usual half-assed fashion to my post defending James Robertson Justice. They ask - did I tell Mark Williams-Thomas how I knew James and his relationship to my mother, etc., and yes, of course I... Continue reading

Nice to know that they are not going to roll over and play dead. Good luck to Ellen and the Trust. Like you said, unfortunate that charities can't benefit, but the truth needs to come out in a court proceeding, whatever that truth might be.
Yes, Moor, that is me. Btw, the 70sDuncroft persona is a little bent out of shape about this latest post, and are now threatening to blow this gossip up into another witch-hunt. I think the required link is available at the Raccoon site. I really think this is just Fiona talking to herself.

My attention was drawn today to a blog set up by some of the Duncroft 70s women - most of it the usual silly crap about Roedean, etc., but then I saw an entry that was both troubling and sooooo typical of these false accusers. This post concerns the popular... Continue reading

Following the recent demise of former PM Baroness Margaret Thatcher, the media was swift with obits and tributes, while Brits either celebrated for no apparent reason, or engaged in rhetoric on various blogs as to the rightness and/or wrongness of her administration. CNN probably came up with the best of... Continue reading

I swear there is no connection between my tiddler post of Sunday, and the precipitate departure of Police Chief Peter Spindler from his spot at the tiller of the Good Ship Yewtree on the same day, but you gotta like the coincidence. We may be running into some choppy weather,... Continue reading

"Fishing for tiddlers" - Tony Sheath So, those doughty champions of public morals, Op Yewtree, have apparently arrested (not charged, mind you), some 65 year old man, apparently in Somerset. This is par for the course now. Arrest but let them go free, without charge. Who is this latest tiddler?... Continue reading

I started out trying to think of an appropriate title for this post, something witty and clever, but this appalling waste of UK tax-payers' money and police resources on a snipe hunt that has revealed nothing, solved nothing, and produced nothing except one sorry arrest and charging of a man... Alas, poor Rolf! Another elderly celebrity, swept away in the continued witch-hunt, featuring Jimmy Savile, Gary Glitter, Freddie Starr, Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all, etc. I know, we're not supposed to name him, but how can one defend him if not by this reference? Although one could probably make... Continue reading

Photo: Roedean, East Sussex (my grandmother's old school). So, Saturday morning I awake to find three missives/comments from the Duncroft contingent, in the guise of someone called "Anne" from Bolton, whose writing style is reminiscent of another woman entirely. But then, if you don't want anyone to guess who you... Continue reading

As the search for the truth continues in the ongoing Savile and Others investigation (Yewtree), as well as Operation Outreach, a couple more thorough bloggers, as well as Anna Raccoon, have joined the rising call for sanity. It is obvious at this stage in the proceedings that Operation Yewtree has... Continue reading

Since my initial posting, in which I simply attempted to clarify my own experiences at Duncroft, this thing has blown up big time. So a little more to add to the noxious brew. I would be remiss if I didn't note that I got wind of the Newsnight investigation almost... Continue reading

The ongoing furor over Jimmy Savile, the over-the-top host of BBC's Top of the Pops in the 60s, and then Clunk-Click and Jim'll Fix It which ran for nearly 20 years, has been captivating/horrifying/enraging the British public. The subject is child molestation. Here in the US, we're mostly oblivious to... Continue reading

Sometime mid-afternoon, I wend my way by taxi to the Royal Albert Hall to meet Kansas and return John's keys to him, as well as to briefly say hi to my buddies in the Mothers, who were scheduled for performance that night. I initially met the Mothers during my first... Continue reading

Returning from my first visit to Los Angeles in November 1968, in March 1969 I was based at the Cordova House Hotel in Paddington. I'd allowed "K" to sublet my flat and use my possessions, on the clear understanding (I thought) that I would be returning to London. "K" was... Continue reading

When I was eight, my mother decided that it was time I went off to 'camp' for the Easter holidays. Usually, the family - my mother, her friend John Starnes, me, and my bff Jeannette - headed to Cornwall for the long summer holiday, basing ourselves in Port Isaac and... Continue reading

"It's supposed to be haunted," says David Morgan. "What? That old abandoned house on York Road?" "Yes, that's what I've heard."David pushes his pint glass forward on the bar, then quaffs the refill thoughtfully. It's a Friday evening at the King's Head in Guildford, Surrey, 1965, and the Public is... Continue reading

For people of a certain age, Elizabeth Taylor will always be an icon, in the company of James Dean, Marlon Brando, Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Wood, Paul Newman - she was 'us,' in the way that true stars are. A woman of great wit, with a giving spirit and a kind... Continue reading
