Hmm...looks like 'Sandman Slim' is going on my Amazon Wish List. I checked out the sample chapter, and I have to admit it looks pretty good. Thanks for the recommendation!
each sensation makes a note in my symphony
The alarm went off at 7 this morning. Though I was asleep around 11 last night, the jolt of misery that shot through my body as I reached over to turn it off confirmed -- again -- that I am not a Morning Person. I slowly opened my eyes, and saw that Anne had already gotten out of bed. In her pla...
Got this downloaded to my Kindle for later reading...I just finished "The Day After" during my lunch break at work, and I have to admit it was one of the best pieces I've read in some time. Judging from the comments I've read thus far, I'd say my $10 was well spent in this case. Thanks so much for sharing this!
HUNTER is here.
Hunter is a short Sci-Fi story set in a dark and desperate world. It is just about 2500 words, which is about the length of a story you'd read in a magazine. I'm not really sure what the appropriate cost is, so I'm experimenting with the Pay What You Want model that seems to be working really we...
Me? I'm definitely a gadget nerd. I cut my teeth on the Tandy TRS-80 'microcomputer' - dual 5 1/4" drives, huge honking green monochrome monitor and clunky keyboard, all in one single unit. I've also worked on the Apple IIc/IIe series as well as the Commodore VIC 20/C64.
Games? I owned the Atari 2600, the Nintendo GameBoy, and MERLIN (now THERE'S old school for you).
These days, I'm all about open source. I gave up Windows a few years ago and embraced Linux (Ubuntu, to be precise) and haven't looked back. I browse the web with Firefox, read email with Evolution, and I'm in the process of learning to use the command line for virtually everything. I love the whole philosophy behind the open source community.
UK Geek
I am a geek. Or a nerd, I tend to use the terms interchangeably. This comes as no surprise to anyone who knows me or knows my work on Stargate. I’m often rattling on about my childhood fascination with computers and science fiction (specifically in the form of Doctor Who as played by John...

Woohoo! Glad to see you blogging on TypePad - I was afraid with all the problems Joomla was giving you that you wouldn't be posting for a while. Too bad TypePad doesn't have a BlackBerry app (or does it? I'd have to look through BlackBerry App World) - then you could post from whichever phone you had handy.
You'll always be cool in our book, no matter what.
@Sean - love the Fonz. I actually met Henry Winkler a number of years ago...fantastic man.
Hello again!
Greetings! Firstly I'd like to make something perfectly clear. This is not a fan site. If you want to partake in that sort of thing then there are some great ones out there by people much more talented at that sort of thing than I am. I'm sure you'll get a kick out of them…i know that I do! ...
Talk about reliving the good old days. There was an arcade at the local mall I used to hang out at back when I was in my late teens/early 20s. Zaxxon, Missile Command, Galaga...those were some really great times.
drink beer, insert coin
Friday night, I took my wife out for beers and video games. It seemed like a perfect way to end a not-so-perfect week. We started with Ms. Pac-Man. I love Ms. Pac-Man, because the very first time I played it, I got to the pretzel level. About ten years ago, I played the hyper-speed version of it...
As a USPS employee for the past 12 years, I can empathize with your frustration, Wil. I've heard many a customer complain about one or more of our regulations.
I got my own copy of HDOOL two days ago, and it was in excellent condition. The envelope had a slight tear in one corner (perhaps an inch in length) but there was no other visible damage that I could see.
I just finished the part where you wrote about comparing ice cream to sorbet - that's one thing I don't know that I've ever tried. I know what it is, but I can't recall ever having any.
happiest days stuff (one in a continuing series)
I spent all day today doing publishing stuff. I processed all the orders up until about 2p.m. today, and as soon as my new envelopes arrive tomorrow, I'll stuff them and ship them, so if you got a confirmation e-mail from me yesterday or today, your book should arrive before the end of next week...
