I have had a love for words since I was nine months old, apparently; this being the age my mother claims I was when I first began using words. My first word was Daddy, then football, then Mommy, only in Texas, right? (I won't insert the overused “LOL” here; I... Continue reading

My dear friends who do not understand my conviction About The Cross and my Christ and His Resurrection: If the Cross and The Christ and the Resurrection is a HOAX Then the joke's on me. If it is THE TRUTH, then please don't let the false hoax Cause you to lose out on the ONLY HOPE!! If I am the silly one for believing, then in the end, whatever that end looks like, If I'm able, I will stand in front of you & let you laugh at me in joy or spite; But PLEASE: Forget about religion This is... Kaityism #3 Early 2010, we were really struggling financially. It was one of those times when the phone rings and rings and you have to give the same answer each time, "We can't pay that bill at this time, but...." You know the drill, right? Anyway, I had my fill of the phone one day and it rang and Kaity went to pick it up and I said: "Kaity, don't answer that phone, it's just people wanting money from us!" (Not the best thing to say to a 9 year old, but stress took over my better judgement at that... Continue reading

Kaityism #2 When Kaity was about 8 she asked me what hobanobbing meant. I first asked her, "You mean, hobnobbing? She replies, "Yeah Mom, whatever, hobnobbing!" My reply, "Well, it means when people rub elbows with other people, usually it is referring to poor people or lower class people rubbing elbows with rich and famous people." Kaity, "Eeewww!! You mean dirty, poor people rub their elbows on rich people?? I sure hope they take a shower afterward! That's just gross!" Continue reading

My daughter Kaity is one of the funniest people I know. She is most funny when she isn't trying to be funny, but then isn't that true of most of us. At the time of this post Kaity is 10, just a few months away from 11. I decided I had better start posting some Kaityism highlights before I forget them and while she is still at the age of just enough innocence to come up with these hilarious questions and/or statements that can only come from kids!! Kaityism #1 happened several years ago, she must have been about 5.... Continue reading

Thought just struck me as I was looking out my window at the cold gray sky and the patchy white spots covering my apartment complex grounds: While other parts of the world are in turmoil and chaos, today, February 1, 2011, in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas we are in lock-down mode, shut-in day, free day, unexpected vacation day, whatever you wanna call it, I call it: A good day to look at those New Year's Resolutions we made just a month ago: our goals, our vision, our personal mission statement, and see where we are on our road map to success.... Read Luke 1:26 - 2:52 Mary was favored by God for the important task of giving birth to, loving and nurturing Jesus. Three Acts of Mary stand out as crucial to a healthy life: 1. she humbly believed God (1:38), even in the face of an outrageous promise, (conceiving the Savior of the world though an unwed virgin); 2. as she watched Him grow up, she "treasured" special moments in her heart (2:19, 51); 3. when things happened that she didn't understand, she let them go into God's will (1:34-38, 2:41-52). (My revision of a Melinda Fish writing as printed... Continue reading

I love when unplanned things come together. I am such a planner, pusher, promoter, perfectionist who procrastinates because my pushing promoting plans don't come together perfectly. Then, I'll get to experience those rare aHa moments of God where I sit still for just a nano-second and He quietly points His gentle finger at a few pieces of this or that in my life and illuminates the blend and I realize, AGAIN, that life is a process and all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose! Now, with that said... Continue reading

I loved our Black Sheep series at Fellowship Church just before Easter this year. It really prepared my heart for Easter evangelism! It also sparked a new idea for those Crazy Christian Chicks I've had in my head for years and began birthing through my new attempts at ink art a few months ago. Once the Black Sheep series began it seemed very fitting for my first two Crazy Christian Chicks and each week inspired me to ink a new chick from a section of Jesus' Luke parables. Below are the last two I inked a few weeks ago. I... Continue reading

A collection of art I am working on; still in conception stage, but working toward greeting cards, stationery and refrigerator magnates. These are created with various types of ink. I am learning that ink art is extremely unforgiving! Thankfully, Jesus isn't! : D Crazy Christian Chicks - Black Sheep Series: Wild Warrior Women: The Butterfly MasKaraders:What's Behind Your Mask (This is a brand new concept/vision and I did this first one in a huge hurry and experimenting with a few things I had laying around the house. It's messy and needs cleaned up, hope to post a few new ones... Continue reading

Studying seasons this Winter/Spring at Fellowship Church Flavour Influence Groups, as I broke through a harsh winter into an awesome spring rain I was inspired to write this poem. So for all my Flavour-FIG-Warrior-Seasoned Sisters - when you think to wait on the Lord is more than you can bear, replace the word wait with the word hope! Continue reading

Sit on the shore and look as far out as possible; You will see a glimpse of God's never-ending eternity. Feel the awesome power of the ocean And you will feel a hint of God's mightiness. Consider the life throughout the ocean And you will grasp a sample of God's creativity. Observe the oil and the trash along the shore And you will capture a picture of selfish humanity With imperfection and carelessness screaming at you. Breathe in the beautiful sea breeze and feel God's grace and forgiveness. Hear the mighty roar of the waves crashing all around you And... Continue reading

Kevin, Once again - your authenticity and open-book writing humbles me, inspires me, and further deepens my commitment to this group as you, the Pied Piper of authentic and free lifestyle march along with so many of us happily skipping behind you - although at times we each have to stop and lay it all down and ask our Creator once again, "Now, why am I doing this? Why did I leave the comfort of that pay check? What if I face that giant and he squashes me like a bug?" Those times we don't skip behind you, we stop, drop and roll right into one of our awesome groups and shout out to our Free Agent Family for strength, wisdom, encouragement, support. Sometimes doing just that strengthens our marriages in turn as we can receive perspective and clarity and then turn to our spouse in that peace that passes understanding for a calm "team meeting!" This approach works for the solo flying man and the solo flying woman! Thank you for inspiring us again! Can't wait to read part 2!
Kevin, You knocked this one out of the ballpark!!! This is better than JERRY McGUIRE!!! So very timely for me. I am such a warrior and my faith is HUGE, really enough to move mountains! But today it has been less than a mustard seed and I must have taken off my armor at lunch and forgotten to put it back on because I have been listening to the enemy whisper lies to me all afternoon as I work harder and get more frustrated and full of fear!! I needed this read!!! I reiterated every reason I am doing what I am doing!! Sometimes my fear is not even that I may lose some things and feel some pain and discomfort - I'm okay with that, bring it on. I mean, I don't WANT THAT to happen, but if it does it cannot change my mind about following my dream, no my PURPOSE! I am getting more fearful about the ridicule from family when they begin to know our reality, actually not my family as much as my in-laws. My husband doesn't even have the courage to tell them I left my job!!! Anyway, this was the fuel I needed to reaffirm everything. Thank you! I just love it when you get away from all of us and power write!!! Write a book dude!!! Write "Free Agent Joyfully Living Underground and I Can Come Out When I Want To!" : D You know - even in days where my fear tries to creep in, I still get up in the mornings so full of peace and joy and so ready to run into my office and get busy!!! I can never, never, never go back to that feeling of a pit in my stomach from Sunday afternoon until Friday afternoon! I WILL never go back to that! Your Warrior Woman Free Agent Friend Marching On!
