I did notice that there was a board book available. If I find the papers, I'll let you know!

Hey Jen- no it's a "handwriting" font with little heart details. I know Lucie would like it:) I hope you and Jesse had a good Valentine's Day!

Hi Sarah- you were the winner for this giveaway! I was having a hard time replying to your post to alert you, but figured out how to make it work today. Could you please email me your address so that we could send the book your way? Thanks! You can click on contact on my sidebar for my email address.

Patricia- I resisted too, at first, thinking we were past the "board book" phase, but it is just too delightful.

This is the first year we've done this kind of advent calendar. I wanted to point out one thing I'm using in ours. I bought the Pocket Pals (8 tiny felt dolls) from Magic Cabin for $7 something a set, and I put one of them in today. So, that will take up 8 days, but if it starts to seem old hat after they get a few, I may stick an activity coupon in with the little doll-- something like read The Mitten and color a Jan Brett coloring page.

Really, wow, it was totally fun. It was one of the more enjoyable experiences I've had with him in his 7 year life.

My kids both have the twin Parson's bed from Room & Board. We originally bought two for my son's room, sort of a take-off of an old-fashioned boy's room, but once he got older we decided it would be more practical to use the floor space for playing. When my daughter got old enough to use a twin bed, I felt like it would be silly to buy one when we already had one, and around that time I saw a girl's room in a magazine with this bed decked out with pink Hable Construction pillows, and I thought it looked great for a girl too. I love that they most likely won't break, they won't go out of style, and can even see putting them in a guest room or cottage someday. Sorry for the novel, but I LOVE these beds!

These are really cool, Melissa. I think they'd make great gifts because they're so unusual. I was just trying to think of a hat I could sew Lucie because I am having a hard time finding one I like with purple in it (the color of the coat I got her for $11 on clearance at Land's End). This will give me a ton of options-- thanks!

I think you misread my post, I clearly said that I wasn't saying she copied me. I just didn't want it to look like I copied her, since her idea was published on Ohdeedoh just the day before I showed mine on my blog. Did someone mention copyright? I don't see that part in my post either.

I haven't tried the beef stew, thanks for the tip. I haven't been the most successful with that in the past either.

The recipe calls for covering them with parchment paper, so that's what I do, and I suppose that would help keep moisture in. Also, with dry chicken I would suspect that it is overcooked.

The books are made with half sheets of soft white (Mohawk Superfine) paper that are folded in half again. There are three half sheets + cover stock (from Martha Stewart crafts) in each book, and they are just bound with an orange rubber band. I have HUNDREDS of rubber bands from an old project and am desperate to use them up.

Elliot loves to needle felt too, so you may have Ian give it a try. He does flat pieces on a foam pad. (like, last year he helped me with the felted mitten ornaments I made)

Heh, I wondered if anyone would notice that. My stepfather came to live with us last April. His wife, my mother, is deceased.

Thanks Tracey! I hope to get caught up soon, I'm trying to see it as a month long process and not stress over the day to day deadlines as I recover from this dreaded cold!
