Wil, I think you should write a recipe book next. I'd totally buy it and I don't even cook.
Wil's Yummy Asparagus
My contribution to dinner tonight was some yummy asparagus, it totally didn't suck, so I wanted to share the simple steps to create it with the Internet: Wil's Yummy Asparagus 1. Get some asparagus. 2. Wash it off. 3. Cut Snap off the bottoms where it's all fibrous and gross. 4. Put about 2 inch...
You have a beautiful family, Wil.
I'm on a boat: In which I'm a proud father
I’m on JoCoCruiseCrazy 2, and I’m taking an Internet vacation until I get home. So every day while I’m gone, something from my archives will post here automatically, for your entertainment. I had a lot of fun picking these different things out, and I hope you enjoy them again, or for the first t...
You know, I've always thought that earbuds look kind of silly, but they sure look great on Jason. :)
Jason Baldwin Says Hello #wm3
He's out there having fun, don't worry-- we'll get him to write down a few words for supporters soon!
@Dave: LOL!

Damien, Jason and Jessie:
From messages I've been reading all over the internet (and not just in places dedicated to your case), I'm far from alone in having cried tears of joy when you walked free on Friday. The world has seemed a brighter place these last four days, not just because you're out of prison, but also because you're truly in the world now.
You've already touched and blessed the lives of many, many people whom you don't know and may never meet. Speaking for myself, I know that I would not be quite the same person I am today if I had not stumbled upon an article about you 14 years ago.
Damien, you wrote, "This whole experience has taught me much about life, human nature, American justice, survival and transcendence." I would say that you three taught the rest of us a bit about those things as well.
Whatever paths you choose for yourselves from here on, the world will be better for it. Follow your hearts, and be gentle with yourselves as you explore this new world.
Messages from Damien & Jason #wm3
August 19th, 2011 Damien Echols: To all my friends and family, my attorneys and advocates, and to those of you from every corner of this earth who have stood beside us these long years, please know that I will forever be indebted to all of you for helping me to become a free man. Each and every ...
@Bobby Connelly:
Hmm, now where have I heard that kind of talk before?
Oh yeah...During DJ&J's trial, only it wasn't directed at Byers back then.
I might point out that Byers' DNA wasn't found at the scene either. The DNA pointed to someone else.

But wait, there's more! Vixy & Tony will be on stage with her too! NOW how much would you pay?
I'm bummed - I can't go (no sitter).
Seriously though, if you have no idea who Marian Call is, check it out - she's awesome.
Seattle! You can see Marian Call with Molly Lewis and Jason Finn on Thursday! GO GO GO!
One of the great joys of w00tstock 2.4 in San Diego was finally getting to see and hear Marian Call in person; she is brilliant, and totally One Of Us. I was talking with Marian this morning, and she told me that she has a show coming up in Seattle: Well, we're having a sort of mini-w00tstock 2....
That was the best episode of Leverage I've seen yet - though, granted, it's normally something I only half-watch while the rest of the family watches. The "High Noon" moment was hysterical and I totally wasn't expecting the ending.
Hope your van wasn't too "whiffy"!
Leverage - The Two Live Crew Job
Early feedback from tonight's episode of Leverage is overwhelmingly positive, which delights me. I'm so happy to hear that so many people liked it. If you've seen the show already, you may get a kick out of the pictures I took during production and just added to Flickr, but there are spoilers, s...
Are there any plans to port this to the G1/Android platform?
I've used TripIt to plan 4 trips now, including one major family vacation, and I don't know how I ever managed without it. I can get to it via the browser on my G1, but having a cellphone app like this would be even better.
New: TripIt for iPhone
You asked for it, you got it! Today, we are pleased to announce the launch of one of the most-requested TripIt features- our brand new iPhone app. We know many of you have been waiting patiently for this app, so we decided to make it free, as a thank you for all of your support, and your great...
More announcement means more things to announce, which means more cool things are happening - and hey, you've earned it!
i'm getting as sick of announcements as you are, so here's some more announcements
I'm not thrilled that my blog has recently been filled with announcements instead of original content, but that's sort of the way things are shaking out in my life right now. It's not bad, because I'm incredibly busy and working on awesome crazy ideas, but I feel like I'm kind of neglecting some...
That sucks. I haven't written anything on ficlets yet, but I was seriously considering it, having recently discovered that I enjoy reading and writing drabbles (fanfics of exactly 100 words). Initially, drabbles appealed to me because I don't have much time to read/write longer fanfics, but I found that the severe length restriction actually improved my writing in a number of ways. Working with more general stuff on ficlets (which I heard about from you) seemed like a good idea.
I hope somebody can get something going quickly (perhaps by customizing existing software like eFiction?). This would be a good project for one of the way-too-many laid-off techies out there.
ficlets is going to the land of wind and ghosts. here's how to save your stories.
AOL is shutting down Ficlets on January 15, and in their infinite corporate wisdom and understanding of how communities on the Internet work, they're not providing any easy way to archive the stories you've written there beyond advising that you try "copying the text and pasting it into a plain ...
Hey Wil - totally off-topic, but I just found out about this:

in which wil gets no work done
I have a theory, and it is mine. It goes like this: When I get up early in the morning and go straight to work, I produce an avalanche of words before I get tired, about nine hours later. When I get up later in the morning and go straight to work, I produce substantially fewer words, and never r...

Thanks for the smiles and shared memories, Wil. I owe more to that particular cult phenomenon than I'm entirely prepared to admit - but for starters, there are 3 children (well, two children and a young woman who turns 21 next week) who wouldn't even exist if it weren't for that movie.
As for the remake...*sigh*...it was bound to happen eventually. If they go through with it, let's hope it meets with the fate it deserves.
when you dressed up sharp and you felt alright
A few days after my sixteenth birthday, I lost my Rocky Horror virginity with my best friend, in a shitty little duplex theater in Van Nuys. I'd wanted to see Rocky since I was ten or eleven on my way to an audition and my mom drove us past a marquee advertising a midnight showing every Saturday...

Congrats! See - you can still be the thing you were before. :)
...and now that song is stuck in my head. At least it's an improvement over the one that was stuck there before I read this: Tom Smith's delightfully obnoxious "Theme from Space Squid". What is it with giant tentacled things in my head today?
the pretty white ships that i've been dreaming of
I haven't had a theatrical agent for years, so I don't have as many auditions or opportunities to work as an actor as I once did. I have a fantastic manager, though, who always gets me into quality auditions, where I have a real shot at booking the job.[1] My manager and I have an understanding ...

I saw Leif Garret in concert in 1979.
*hangs head in shame*
"I got better."
the joys of weird audio
I have a folder of mp3 files that's called 'weird audio.' Most of it is stuff I ganked from WMFU's 365 Days Project, but there's also a few gigs of bizarre and rare recordings I found during several late night trips down the vinyl sharity blog rabbit hole. Mostly, I chop these things up to make ...

Thanks for posting this, Wil. Your blog covers a lot of topics that I enjoy, but it's most fascinating to me when you write about writing. I'm just getting back into writing after an embarrassingly long hiatus (I majored in screenwriting before I dropped out - a result of being a moron when I was younger), and it's just incredibly helpful when you post stuff like this.
BTW, if you ever have the urge to write about, oh, say, "shutting off the critic in your brain long enough to actually get an idea written out" - you know, without constantly stopping to edit and re-edit before you go on to the next paragraph - PLEASE do. :)
bustin up my brains for the words
Did I mention that I'm writing a full-on science fiction novella that may even grow into a novel? It's a noir kinda thing, set in a dystopian future Los Angeles. (It's not Blade Runner. That's the first thing people think when I say it, but I'm keenly aware of that, and I've taken the appropriat...

Wow - I'll definitely have to check that out when I'm not at work. Felicia Day rocks - in an it's-totally-unfair-that-anybody-could-be-that-beautiful-AND-that-talented sort of way.
this is awesome. awesome in pants!
Teaser from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog on Vimeo. I've been hearing about this for weeks, but didn't have time to watch the trailer until this morning. I was super excited to see that my fellow ACME-alumnus Felicia Day (one of the mad geniuses behind the hilarious-because-it's-painfull...
