I love what you said about leaving the show. I was upset that you did leave. You were a "friend" that left me while I was a geeky teen. You were a part of me that go to be on the Enterprise and I was envious of Wesley. I think your words at the Con were completely perfect and thank you for them.
And thank you to the rest of the cast who still look with so much love. Thank you for sharing that moment for those who could not be there.
Wish you could be at the con in Cherry Hill this weekend and .... GO FLYERS!!!
After twenty years, I finally got to say this.
A lot of incredible and wonderful things happened at the Calgary Expo this weekend, and when I'm not as exhausted I'll write about all of them. Until then, though, here is one of them that I really hope you'll spend 5 minutes watching: If you can't see the video, you can watch it right here a...
OMG I wasn't going to comment until you wrote about "don't blink, the Angels have the phone box". You rock at level 11 of Geekyness!!!!
The Ep was wonderful and I can't wait to see more of you and Felicia on Eureka. Love that show and I'm glad you are on it!!!!!
EUREKA: Glimpse
Last night's Eureka, Glimpse, was my first episode as a non-enraged-by-the-enraginator-device Doctor Parrish. I had completely forgotten about Fargo's commercial for the Astraeus project at the top of the show; when I saw that, the excitement of shooting the entire season came flooding back to m...
Thanks for the laughs. Just what I needed on a dreary day with no one else in the office.
we can't rewind, we've gone too far
I'm home for a few days before I go back to Vancouver to finish out the season on Eureka. It's nice to sleep in my own bed, actually see my family, and work in my actual office, instead of sitting at a desk in a hotel. Doctor Parrish was very heavy in the last episode I shot, so I worked 5 of 6 ...
LOVE IT! Sending the link to my Geek Hubby in Iraq! Thanks.
#GAMEON!
Just in case you haven't had your mind blown by the latest music video from The Guild, yet: <br/><a href="http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/season-4-music-video-game-on/y0da39gh?fg=sharenoembed" target="_new"title="Season 4 - Music Video - "Game On"">Video: Season 4 - Music Video - "...
But who's Guild House is behind you two?
"as his kilt rises..."
I think this is one of those rare things that can be equally enjoyed* by those who have context, and those who don't. *for very disturbing values of 'enjoyed'
I totally loved the "true stories..." on Nick and wish YCDTOT was still on the air. I have to tell my kids of the "good ol' days" from where the green slime came from when they watch it on "Brain Surge"... the only show that features green slime besides the Kid's Choice Awards.
Trust me, if you were to come to the East Coast, I'm sure I could find MANY fan girls to remind you how much you are still with us.
Thanks for the nostalgia and LOVE the new work. Can't wait to see more.
FLASHBACK! True Stories From Famous People
When I was a dorky teenager, I was sort of thrust into the spotlight by Stand By Me and Star Trek. I've written before about how weird the whole thing was, and how uncomfortable a lot of the attention made me, but it wasn't all bad; I got to do some cool things, and meet some cool people as a re...
Great episode. My 13 year old son and I have gotten into the habit of watching it together.
Hope to see more of you in Eureka in the near future.... in either of the realities.
Fargo is, after all, the boss of us ...
This post contains spoilers. You have been warned. If I've pushed the Big Red Button correctly, this should post automatically right after my episode of Eureka, All the Rage, has concluded in the Eastern time zone. I'm at Comic-Con right now, and I've just seen this episode in its entirety for t...
My 13 year old boy can't wait to read it. Sounds like fun summer reading for him on the beach.
A Little Summer Reading
Yesterday on Twitter, I joked: "Trying to read a book about Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, but whenever I look for it, it moves."The book I was talking about it called Uncertainty: Einstein, Heisenberg, Bohr, and the Struggle for the Soul of Science It's wonderful, and I highly recommend...
Nice job. Totally didn't see "the end" being that way but quite poetic.
Good job seeing you as a "baddie".
Reminder: I'm on Criminal Minds tonight
Tonight at 9pm et/pt on CBS, you can catch my episode of Criminal Minds, Paradise. A serial killer who disguises his victims' demise by creating car accidents to mask their earlier deaths is the subject of a BAU manhunt, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Oct. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Te...
OMG that was just way too funny. Your best role yet!!!! If it was a bit more PG I'd let my 8 year old daughter watch.... but then she would be singing that theme song for all of eternity.
Hope Mushy Shorts makes a come back or his own spin off series!
my episode of gorgeous tiny chicken machine show
My episode of Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show won't be "officially" released until tomorrow, but thanks to my extensive contacts in the seedy and delicious underbelly of the Internets, I've secured access to the episode a full 24 hours early. I did some interviews to support this episode,...
Is "None of the Above" an option?
not that my endorsement means much of anything, but . . .
I'm in and would love to have toddler and Kiddie sizes too. (Gotta start them off right.)
Is anyone interested in WWdN merchandise?
Before I put in the time and effort to make some new WWdN merchandise for the WWdN CafePress store, I'm looking for a show of hands: is anyone interested in some WWdN gear, like T-shirts and stuff? I don't have the time or desire to run a store myself, or take the risk of buying a lot of stock a...
I totally understand the desire to want to give your brain some R&R but I have found that is a very slippery slope.
My first book is being released in Oct of this year (EEK!)and I have found that sticking to the schedule is the only way this is going to happen. (My next one is scheduled for release in Feb 09.)
I wish I could be a full time writer, but for right now that is not possible. Take advance of the time you have! Can't wait to see what you have coming!!!
where is my motivation?
2008 is the year of serious fiction writing for Wil, so it is also going to be the year of reading like crazy to stay inspired and in the proper headspace for writing. I'm quite excited for this, actually, because it means I'll be working through the stack of books (you'll find one in every hous...
Dr Who has been with me probably my whole life (Tom Baker IS my Doctor) and I am proud to say that I have converted my son into a fan (third generation Whovian - David Tennant is his Doctor).
The new stuff is amazing especally because of the special effects they can now do. (And just wait to see what they have coming - the Christmas Ep was really good this year!)
Once you are caught up on the "New Who" you have got to also check out Toarchwood. Its a nice crossover but for more of an adult audience.
I love that I can share Dr Who with my children the same way my Dad did with me. Even better, we spend time discussing the episodes and my oldest is only 10 years old!
genesis of the daleks
I should have finished my script yesterday, but the goddamn sinusitis completely knocked me out. Luckily, used a winning combination of Sudafed, Mucinex, Advil, and sitting on the couch next to a humidifier to prevent this thing from developing into something really nasty, like a Moose Bite. ...
If I could get the time away from my kids I would jump into the fray in a second. Although I would probably scar you too much when my 14 year old self emerges and turns into a "fan-girl".
Hope they raise a TON of money!!!!!
Come sit with me at the Child's Play charity dinner!
I'm going up to Seattle in a couple weeks for the Child's Play dinner and auction, so I asked my friends at Penny Arcade if I could do something to contribute, other than my ticket and whatever I decide to buy in the auction. "How about two seats at your table?" Normally, this sort of thing neve...
Two words... Writer's Rock. Nuf said.
Colbert Report writers on the strike
Yesterday, The Daily Show writers gave us their take on the WGA strike, and today the writers from The Colbert Report share some Truthiness: Quoth John Scalzi: This is why it’s not smart to get into a snit fight (or labor dispute) with a writer. Because they write. Which means they know how t...
Oh yeah, read that this morning and it made my day!
little bobby tables
Today's xkcd is made from 10 pounds of awesome, wrapped in WIN, and delivered by the nurse from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Oh yeah, you know the one.
Sounds like you are going to have a terrific weekend! I'm sure you'll have a terrific time and the audience will love it. (Wish I was going)
(Glad Anne's doing ok. I know what it's like - tons of not fun)
my PAX schedule
I worked on my keynote all day today. I got it to Good Enough, and tomorrow, I'll nudge it up to Awesome. Well, I hope. I'm still anxious, which is why I'm still at Defcon 3. To keep things in perspective, I took an unscheduled break in the late morning when Anne got stung by a wasp in the yard,...
I can't wait to order my copy!
BTW - My ten year old son wants to build a life size Dalek.
a few more Happiest Days of Our Lives items
Several readers have expressed some concern that they won't be able to get copies of The Happiest Days of Our Lives unless they can come to one of these conventions I'm attending this summer, and I wanted to assure everyone that it won't be a problem. Once I get back from PAX and life is back to...
Happy Birtday Nolan!!!
happy birthday, nolan!
Nolan is 16 today. Our plans include goofing off at the beach, followed by an awesome dinner with a few friends, and lots of Guitar Hero later tonight. It's his first birthday without his big brother around, which is probably harder on me than it is on him, but I think we're all going to have a...
Happy Birthday Anne. Sounds like you have a great pair of sons and a husband that worships the ground you walk on. Rock on Girl!
happy birthday, mrs. wheaton!
I worked on Ben Ten this morning, came home, changed into shorts, and spent the rest of the day at the beach with my family, to celebrate Anne's birthday. Now I get to gather up my books, pictures, Sharpies and other convention items, pack my clothes, and get ready to head out to Vegas at the cr...
Hope your day gets better. You've got a few more hours than I do to go, but there is always tomorrow.
(Thanks for the link to DailyLit - Can't wait for it to start showing up in my inbox.)
the coolest thing i've seen all day
I'm having a bad day. There, I said it. Details will not be forthcoming, but if you were wondering why I may seem like Captain Crankypants, now you know why. However, I still came across something that's so totally awesome, I thought I'd share with my usual enthusiasm: DailyLit sends you bite-si...

I am so going to buy this book for my seven year old daughter who is bombarded with the "dumb girl" images. She is currently working on her summer math packet and I didn't tell her to do it at all. She decided to do it by herself!
cute and smart is better than cute and dumb
My friend Danica has a new book out, and CNN noticed: Danica McKellar has a message for girls: Cute and smart is better than cute and dumb. McKellar, who played Winnie on the 1990s television show "The Wonder Years," is coming out with a book, "Math Doesn't Suck," to encourage girls to get into ...
