The replacement magnetic switch for the front door came last week. I installed it and now the alarm system is fully operational again. When the weather breaks I will put the alarm stickers up on the house. On another note, Theresa got us $200 back from Lowe's. This was compensation... Continue reading

The alarm stickers I ordered are in. I'm still waiting on the magnetic switch for the front door. It should come any day now. I should be able to install it on Saturday. Then the door ordeal will be over. Continue reading

I ordered new alarm stickers for the windows and a replacement sensor for the front door yesterday. My local source stopped selling these items so I bought them on eBay. Even with shipping they were way cheaper than the last time I bought similar items. I love the internet! Continue reading

The installer came out on Sunday and put in the new door slab. This one seals correctly. However, he broke my alarm magnet trying to get it off the old door. I will have to buy a new one and install it myself. We are also going to get a... Continue reading

The new door slab was supposed to be installed on Sunday Feb 6. Lowe's warehouse had called and said that it was in on January 29. The installer called the store on Sunday, to pick up the door slab, and it was not there. Continue reading

The Lowes installer manager came out with the installer last week. They decided that the issues all belong to the manufacturer. We have tried to setup an appointment, but the contact person is out of the office for the holidays. Continue reading

Lowe's sent out a troubleshooter to fix the seal issue. He said the original installer did a bad job of adjusting the door. It should have never been that loose that it rattled or a gap was visible. We went to Lowe's and had them match paint colors to the... Continue reading

Lowe's has made promises to make it right, but so far there has not been any action. To make matters worse, the Lowes representative never calls when he says he will. We also discovered a new issue. The other day when the wind was blowing we heard whistling fromm the... Continue reading

We visited Lowes last night to try and get reconciliation for the odd colored vinyl piece at the bottom of the new door. They offered to sell me paint to change the color. I told them that after I spent $3000 on a door and installation that it was not... Continue reading

I installed a new surface mount doorbell yesterday and it worked fine. It was a $3 model from ACO. It looks ok in spite of being inexpensive. The alarm sensor fro the front door is now installed and working. I have the sensors taped in until the glue holding them... Continue reading

I tied to replace the surface mount doorbell with a flush mount model. The effort was a fail. When I pulled the old switch off I noticed that the insulation was missing from most of both wires. Then I realized I needed to make a 5/8" hole for the back... Continue reading

The new entry doors are on the house. Of course this makes more work for me as usual. The molding I stained is a couple of shades darker than the original. I can make it more red. That may help it blend better. I also need to install a new... Continue reading

Soon I will have new doors on the house. The contractor hired by Lowe's seems very nice. He is working on the new garage entry door now. I won't even have to hookup the alarm myself. He said he would fish the wires and make the holes for me. Great... Continue reading
