I seem to remember some time ago when he left Red Hat to found Lulu, that part of his 'mission' was to enable creators to release their works with whatever rights they want to. Perhaps a direct email to him would stir things up, asking why it is so difficult for you and other authors to make your work available un-DRMed, or to change that decision later. He is Kind of a Big Deal over there, so it could work.
