And if you guys don't like Atlanta up north, please stop moving here! I used to live in Boston it's a very nice city. Just stay up there. Or if you want to move south, try Tampa, or Charlotte, or Raleigh, I hear they are nice this time of year.

I used to live in Boston and was a big Bruins supporter while there. NO ONE GAVE A CRAP about the Bruins. I would call into the local sports talk stations and they would laugh at me for wanting to talk about the Bruins. And this was during the early 00's when they had some decent teams. No one on the street cared about the Bruins or the Celtics then. It was all Red Sox and Patriots. Also I got a secret about Boston. Until Tom Brady got there and started winning super bowls, no one cared about the Patriots either! They used to get blacked out pretty regularly because they wouldn't sell out the old stadium.

The Falcons were playing across the street at the same time this Thrashers vs. Bruins game was going on. Lets put the Patriots playing across the street from the Garden and see how awesome a hockey town Boston is.

Boston should not have the Bruins. Thrashers have outdrawn the Bruins several years. They have also outdrawn the Blackhawks, Islanders, Devils etc. Maybe New York, New Jersey, and Chicago should not have teams either?

Man people in Atlanta do not like NASCAR. That's why NASCAR is moving one of their races from Atlanta. Their race track never sells out. Atlanta is mostly African American and hockey and NASCAR are not really popular in that demographic. The Thrashers are trying to market themselves to the black community with guys like Kane and Buff being good black players but it's going to take awhile. The reason Atlanta struggles as a sports town is because it's full and transplants. People move from New England, the mid west, New York, and they continue to root for the teams they did as a child when they still lived in those other cities. It's not going to be until their kids get grown and out of college before Atlanta because a good sports town. You already see it now. The dad will be wearing a Mets jersey and hat and his kid will have Braves stuff on.

Not to mention that 3/4ths of the population are from somewhere else. The Braves are the only pro team that was smart and actually marketed themselves to the region, versus just to the city. That's why the Braves have drawn over 2 million fans for 20 straight years, something that the Red Sox and Yankees have never done. It's also why when they have a playoff game on a weekend they draw 53,000 fans like they did for game 3 this year. And then when the game is on a weekday, like game 4 was, they only draw 45,000 fans for that one.

The Hawks are not more popular than the Braves are you stupid? The Braves are the most popular pro team in the region followed by the Falcons. Atlanta is a HUGE baseball area. Just check the MLB draft every year and see how many kids get drafted in the first round out of metro Atlanta. They had 6 last year drafted in the first round, how many did New England have? Jason Heyward, from Georgia. Buster Posey? From Georgia. As for the Thrashers they are usually more popular than the Hawks. When the Thrashers had Kovalchuk and Hossa they averaged around 17,000 fans a game and that was just 3 years ago. The reason the Thrashers don't draw is because the owners are awful. They are in court every other week fighting about the Thrashers and the Hawks. The owners don't care about hockey and they let everyone know that. If the Thrashers keep winning the fans will cave and come back. Because right now a lot Thrashers fans stopped going to the games due to the ownership and how awful the team has been for 10 years. Also I used to live in Boston and no one cared about the Bruins. This was during the Joe Thornton era too. The Bruins had some good teams during that era, yeah they failed in the playoffs, but in the regular season they were good and no one went to their games. I remember the Thrashers just out drew the Bruins in attendance a few years ago.
