UM announces the signing of junior college tight end Beau Sandland -- he chooses the Canes over Arizona State and Nebraska
Highly recruited Woodland Hills, Calif., Pierce Community College tight end Beau Sandland has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Miami and will play for the Miami Hurricanes. UM announced the news Wednesday afternoon. Sandland is counted toward the 2013 signing class ...

New UM Canes Depth Chart with your Monday morning coffee: Seantrel Henderson now a co-first-team starter
Good morning. Miami just released its newest depth chart on the heels of that impressive win over Georgia Tech and heading into North Carolina State week. * Seantrel Henderson is now listed as the co-first-team left tackle with Malcolm Bunche. * Ben Jones, who coach Al Golden said had a really g...
I am so sorry I showed up late, then left early. I'll try to do better next time. Everyone have a safe night and get some sleep!! Thanks 86Cane. :)

Hey Hassan! Don't give up. No. 3 question: 3. Do the future canes create a culture that they do not want to jump early unless they are a sure sire top pick, I think this is key, you get a 5 star player and he is now a 3 year starter what how many stars would he be worth? 7-8?
You can not replace an 8 star RB, Miller and a 6 star WR easily. Our Juniors leaving early hurts us and we need to create an environment where that happens rarely and is not the norm. Of course it helps if you do not take an entire H.S MNW in one class where they are so close they will be with he same agent same everything.
I don't know if a culture can create that kind of mindset, but it's a cool thought. I think what creates that more than anything is the program getting so strong and the team winning so much that the players want to stay as long as they can. Otherwise, these days you almost have to assume that guys are going to jump ship early.
It's sad, I think, not to have that feeling of the team being so close knit and so special as a unit that guys don't want to leave. But I certainly can't blame guys for making their decisions. After all, it's within the rules, and so many of these guys' families don't have much and could use the money.
I just think that some of them could make a lot more if they'd stay.

Oops! I screwed up the link. just copy and paste it. As far as Marcus Forston,I think he was sick of being hurt and maybe felt like he needed to get away and start anew. He really could have used a strong senior season. Disappointed in that decision but I wish him the best.

Maybe DE Olivier Vernon will also decide to stick around UM. But I'm not so sure about him. I had this weird feeling that he was going to jump ship. Hopefully he won't. He's a real talent and the UM defense would be a lot better for him staying. I also think his draft stock will rise a bunch if he stays.

Hi everyone! I really came to say a quick hello, but wanted to make sure you saw my story that was just posted on The Miami Herald website. Safety Ray-Ray Armstrong is returningto UM for his senior season, per his father, Albert Armstrong. I had a nice interview with his dad, and have a blog on it and story that is pretty much the same stuff.

Wow, Orange 'n Green, good question about Duke pulling off the upset and potential coaching changes.. Great one. I absolutely don't have an answer. But I would never say, 'No way!' Golden's pretty tough. But he's also realistic and he seems like he knows this thing will take a long time to fix. HOWEVER, he seems like he means business, and I could see him making changes if he thought he needed to. I definitely don't think he'd can D'Onofrio, though. Not this season at least.

Defense: Sean Spence. JoJo Nicolas.
Offense: Tommy Streeter, Jacory Harris and Lamar Miller. You guys pick the two you think are the best!

Orange 'n Green, I know Golden is very disappointed with the defensive line so far. There's no pressure by them, which really screws up the rest of the defense. Chickillo and Vernon are very talented, but the tackles have struggled obviously. I don't think Micanor Regis has endeared himself to the coach.

Canezilla, I never assume the Canes will cover any spread. I know that sounds harsh, but I think you understand. It seems like whenever UM seems to turn the corner and break through, it regresses the next week. So maybe that means they'll cover the spread this week, right?

Soup, I'd like to see Brandon Washington back at guard, yes, next to big Seantrel. And the new depth chart says Mike James or Clements. Bet we see more of Clements this week.

I expect juniors to leave early this season. Don't know about Streeter, but I wouldn't blame him if he bolted -- that is, if his season continues on this pace. There's too much uncertainty going forward next season. I definitely don't think Ray-Ray should leave early. What has he done this season? No way.

Al was good today. He said he was making changes "in every aspect of what we're doing right now.'' He said there would be changes in terms of play-calling and "personnel moves.'' But he wouldn't tell us at what positions and the players involved. He does not think the O-line is doing a good job lately (true), especially in terms of short-yardage situations. He's not satisfied with running game and with tight ends (blocking, etc.)

@86Cane: I really do like the defensive line. Regis is doing really well at tackle, and I heard Porter, who was injured last year, also is progressing well.
But Ojomo and Vernon are the real deals, and with them as bookends, you've got to think the Canes can tally up the sacks and tackles for loss. They were No. 1 in the country in TFL last year and No. 9 in sacks. I'm interested to see how tackle Darius Smith (he's very large) plays.
Yeah, I think using Robinson the way they want to (as OLB in 3-4 and as end in certain 4-3 situations) is a good idea.
And by the way, how GREAT is Chickillo going to be!!!

@86 Cane: Stop asking such good questions. I have no clue about special teams. Not yet. I know they have a lot to improve on from last year, that's for sure. And if they don't find a guy who can REALLY kick, the U is in trouble. I do not have much faith in Wieclaw until proven otherwise. Hope Botts is a good punter (or Dean). Hope they can cover kickoffs, etc.

@DJ Moonbat: Re: receivers, I'd say Travis and LaRon would likely be the starters this season. Hurns was used 100-percent as a blocker last season, but he insists he will be catching the ball this year. I also think they'll give Aldarius a shot, as well as Tommy Streeter. However, from what I hear, Phillip Dorsett is the man. He's supposed to be really good.

@86Cane -- Since I doubt I'd make first-string, I'm going with Jimmy Gaines in the middle. Just today, defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio was raving about Jimmy. He's very, very smart, and super nice, smiley kid. I happen to have a soft spot for Jordan Futch. He's been through a lot and I hope he gets some substantial playing time. They're high on Gionni Paul as well, but for now, it looks like Gaines, then Futch, then Miller Degnan.

@86 Cane: I think it's somewhat risky because the kid was an All-ACC guard and we know he's really good there. However, he played a lot of tackle at Miami Northwestern, and the move opens up the guard slot for Brandon Linder, who is excellent, to slip right in there. Bunche is supposed to be a beast, but he has never played in a real game in college. However, I have a good feeling about him. Love Kehoe! Players do, too. He's so damn fiery and funny -- and cares so much. He's good.
