The day Rachel and fam left to go home, my folks arrived from Tokyo. A bit busy getting things prepped, but it all worked fine. I was practically giddy picking my parents up at the airport. Once home, we had lunch in the neighborhood, then later all together went to pick up Tesla at preschool. She was so happy, and over the next days, everyday, had her entourage to drop her off then pick her up at school. Delighted girl she was, and I was so touched at how Tesla loved having her grandparents around. ↓ Tesla posing with my... Continue »

A few days ago, I tweeted this: Less than an hour later, someone texted my actual ex-boyfriend (not the fictional one in the tweet) to tell him that I was "talking shit" about him on the Internet. Now, I think... Continue »

Saturday, I was getting ready to go out and it was a pretty sunny day in San Francisco, so I hunted for my sunglasses. They were nowhere to be found. I'm still in a relatively new and somewhat empty apartment, so there weren't a lot of places to search and it wasn't long before I determined that the last place they could be is on my desk at work. I made a mental note to stop by the office and check, but the weekend was busy and I just never got around to it. I spent the weekend lamenting my... Continue »

I'm up in Portland today at the first Federated Social Web Summit and there have been a number of interesting presentations about open source projects trying to build interoperable social experiences. The morning has also been fairly packed with emerging technology buzzword bingo. At times it felt as if people were starting with the technologies and protocols and only then trying to find a product that needs PubSubHubbub enabled JSON hCards federated via OStatus! The Diaspora talk jumped out to me as they twice said, "we've implemented this product feature as a prototype, it works, and now we want to talk about the standard version of it." That's the right way to build standards. Have a product problem, solve it, and then iterate with others on an open specification. But most importantly, don't be afraid of starting over (while learning... Continue »

Continue »

I have been crazy busy... and sorta all over the place in the kitchen! I figured I would share just a few of my projects as of late... hopefully more details and recipes to follow! This is a cake I did for a young man joining the Air Force. That is their logo. (or, my sloppy version of it anyway) This cake was a monster... I think eight layers all together. I am hoping they took pictures and email me so I can share! An order I just finished up today... that I need to ship tomorrow. A whole bunch... Continue »
