Well, I got the results back from the x-ray and bloodwork yesterday. The x-ray revealed nothing else horrible or serious, so they were fortunately able to rule out a blockage of any sort. Here is the bad, slightly puzzling news. The bloodwork did not reveal anything wrong with my liver... Continue reading

I am so happy I got to meet all of you guys too. Piper, I can really say you were missed. Even Paul's mom was sad about your absence (but still thought you were insane for even entertaining the idea of going). Thank you so much for saying Paul would appreciate this post, it really means a lot. I like a no fuss, no bullshit, very direct blog. Maybe I won't accomplish it all the time, but I really don't mean to ever sugar coat a single thing. Thank you guys again for even reading my blog - it makes me happy to be thought provoking or at least slightly entertaining. I can't believe I'm this many posts in and I still have no idea how to configure half the things on my blog though, but I promise the blue and the surfboard are getting canned soon, heh.

I don't (and won't) generally write outright "I did this today" types of blogs. But today, I suppose, will be an exception. I went to the doctor's today for what was supposed to be a routine checkup, but the past few days had turned it into a necessary exam. I've... Continue reading

Well, I have returned from Boston (although it's been a week now, I suppose.) A quick summary - my dear friend Paul died last December but I was unable to go to his actual funeral then, as I was very sick and on IV meds. This memorial for him, which... Continue reading

Jenn, I am so sorry you understand, truly, what this blog is about. I wish no one felt like this, ever. On a good note - things seem to be on the upswing, and my hips are now at a manageable 6 or 7 out of 10. Which is fantastic. Those two or three little points mean so much. I, too, do not hesitate to go to the medical side, and rely on those lovely fentanyl patches... some days I want to wallpaper myself with them. But you're right, a nice steamy shower can help just as much (sometimes) too. I am glad my statements about Paul and life (however brief they were) got to you - I really want this blog to be more than a collection of what I do every day - even though sometimes it might revert to that. I want to provoke thought for myself and for my readers too. I actually have a few ideas for upcoming blogs for things I'd like to talk about in more detail. Jess - thank you for joining the party! And thank you for the "new" painscale, it's actually accurate, heh. Well, I don't wish to turn my reply into ANOTHER mini-blog. I just want you guys to know I read and appreciate (VERY much) replies to my blog. So - thank you!

Kev! I had no idea you were in the hospital! I'm so sorry. :( I'm glad you're out now though, and thank you for reading. I know you don't comment much so thank you for saying hello. I'll know you're reading even if you don't comment too much. :) Take care and I hope you feel tons better. And *see* you soon!

So much pain. Since it's the only thing I can think about, quite literally, I suppose I will write about it as well. Starting oh, Saturday I guess, I've had slowly ramping up, excruciating hip, back and leg pain. It basically feels like the lower half of my body between... Continue reading

Thanks! I don't know how appropriate it is to reply to your own blog but I figure I should at least say thanks to my very first comment, and probably my first reader! Writing is definitely good for the soul, I'll try to keep it up. Keep the comments coming, I love to hear feedback. 7

Sometimes, when I'm talking to others, usually J, I find myself very conscious of my discussion topics. The undertone of CF in everything I talk about - how it sort of frames everything. "Can't" on four sides. Can't walk this far. Can't do this thing. Can't eat that thing. Can't... Continue reading

I was looking at the very extensive blogroll on cf2chat (my go-to CF forum) and I wondered - why so many? Surely there has to be some reason why nearly 100% of our population that has any online inclination has a blog? Then the answer occurred to me. It's quite... Continue reading

I guess I'll start with the meaning of my username and blog name. The purpose of this blog is soon to follow, though it's not even immediately clear to myself. The subject matter will be everything from college stories to Cystic Fibrosis advocacy to death, that much I know. I... Continue reading
