The Newtown police are saying they'll release more tomorrow morning. I'll update my page sometime this weekend.
Sympathy cards and letters for families touched by the Newtown, CT school shooting
I'm not sure what anyone could do for the families touched by today's elementary school shooting in Newtown, CT. There are no answers that can make any of it make sense or make it right. However the few times I have grieved over the death of a loved one, having someone else express their condo...
You know I've played with Google health and thought that might be interesting, but there's a weird problem.
All of my Google accounts are now based on Google Apps for Domains, and those don't allow use of Google Health, presumably for privacy reasons.
My near miss with a FitBit (and other fitness data-gathering devices)
I've accidently picked up a walking habit. I get up around 6am and walk a couple miles around my neighborhood while listening to podcasts of This American Life, The Moth, or the occasional talk from Zencast. I cover 2-2.5 miles each time. (This isn't a new year's resolution or anything, I ju...
I've started to see old routers pop up in Goodwill stores now too. I keep the DD-wrt "compatible router wiki" bookmarked on my phone, and look to see if the routers for sale for $5-$8 are compatible.
dd-wrt has an infrastructure mode that lets you use these additional routers as repeaters. Considering a $80 repeater to perfect the coverage in your home (or with your neighbors) sounds like something to consider, but to do it for $5? That's not a decision at all, that's easy.
Because Everyone Needs a Router
Do you remember when a router used to be an exotic bit of network kit? Those days are long gone. A router is one of those salt-of-the-earth items now; anyone who pays for an internet connection needs a router, for: NAT and basic hardware firewall protection from internet evildoers A wired net...

While I agree that price is an issue for these products, the fact that you're one of the people behind NPEngine but didn't disclose it undermines your credibility on that otherwise true statement.
I think the comparison of Ning/FB to Convio/BB/NetComm/Avectra is not a fair one. They are different tools for different jobs.
Congrats on the launch of NPEngine, and I hope you can build a credible base of users in the next year to offer nonprofits more choice.
Blackbaud to Convio, "Can you freakin' hear me now?"
For a long time now, the non-profit technology marketplace has been primed for consolidation. Lots of little vendors splintered the customer community. The normal confusion of a world of increasing technology complexity was made worse by competing vendors' "walled gardens". Then the consolida...

Dear Acai spammer,
You do realize that you don't get any SEO benefit by commenting, don't you? Those links are marked with nofollow, and search engines know to ignore them when building trust maps.
But you keep on reading my blog, especially if you find it "educative"
3 lessons you can learn from Nestle's social media mistake and recovery
As you may have heard, Greenpeace has an issue with the way Nestle sources one of their ingredients: palm oil. They assert that one or more of companies that provides Nestle with palm oil deforests habitats of orangutans in the process. To make their point they did a protest outside a Nestle...
