Hear hear! I can see why it would make Kathy and others take a week or so to breathe and collect themselves (goodness knows I've done it), but the threats and ugly side of the Internet are not what I've taken from my experiences online either. Communities, on and offline, are strong and the support for Kathy and others like her is what I'm focusing on this time around. Thanks for adding your balanced view to the conversation.

Seems intent is one of the most important parts of authenticity, though it's hard to prove. I agree I'd never use an automated sign-off (hadn't even thought of that as a possibility). Automated signature info is pretty standard, but anything that falls within the realm of the message itself...
