Diversion- an activity that diverts the mind from tedious or serious concerns; a recreation or pastime. Too much time in one's head is dangerous! That's where I've been, stuck in my head since my son left a week ago. Bleh... not fun! It was time to break the cycle. We... Continue reading

Joe and his beautiful wife Flor made it to Costa Rica a day late. I'd already decided to meet them at the airport and take a road trip to La Fortuna delivering them quicker than a shuttle to start their vacation. When the kids woke up and discovered it was... Continue reading

Life in Costa Rica is all about being able to roll with whatever situation arises. Expecting the unexpected is a way of life. Our car has been having "issues" to say the least. With my son visiting it seemed like the perfect time to take it in and rent a... Continue reading

Two orchids were added to our collection after a visit to the annual orchid expo in San Ramon. The miltonia was my choice. I've always loved them. They remind me of pansies. And of dancing girls in ball gowns. I thought the skirt on this one was particularly pretty. Bill... Continue reading

Hadn't planned on visiting the orchid show when we left the house so I was caught without extra camera batteries. Ugh! As always, there were hundreds of orchids to see. Maybe I'll go again before the weekend is over? This third prize winner earned a blue ribbon in my book.... Continue reading

Less than a week after Callista and I got back from visiting her brother in Florida he joined us in Costa Rica. I don't look happy at all, do I? First order of business, getting reacquainted with San Ramon. Cal and I hadn't been walking around town since before our... Continue reading

It was a heartbreaking game. Costa Rica is out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. This little country with HUGE heart has earned the respect of the world. The plan was to go to La Taberna, the restaurant/bar at our local mall to watch Costa Rica CRUSH those who will... Continue reading

Vacation is nice but there is no place like home. The dogs were happy to see both Callista and I but they quickly let us know they were not happy about being left behind. I'll share more about our trip in the coming days once I get the photos sorted... Continue reading

This time the call of the sea was answered with a trip to the United States. Yeah, a long way to go to get some beach time. Hubby sent Callista and I to Florida's Treasure Coast to spend my 50th Birthday with my children. AWESOME!!! So...for the next couple weeks... Continue reading

There calls are distinct. We hear them often in the tree tops but they are hard to spot. The other day I was searching for mama sloth and heard the call. One had landed in the tree I was under. He had no idea I was under the canopy looking... Continue reading

After I got the great videos of mama and baby sloth a week ago she disappeared for seven days. Mama wanders into areas where I'm not able to find her. No sign of her. Just when I've come to terms with her moving on with life elsewhere she turns up... Continue reading

This is Santa Teresita church in San Jose, it's next to the old aduana building. We've seen it a million times but didn't go inside until our over night trip last month to San Jose. The detail on the outside of the building is fantastic. Inside, it's stunning! Wonderful patterns... Continue reading

The rains have brought on mushroom season. Every morning we're discovering new, fascinating species. We DO NOT eat any of the mushrooms we find. Not worth the risk. I'm fascinated with there structure, shape, where they grow, etc. No desire what-so-ever to eat them. These beautiful, dainty, white, crinkly shrooms... Continue reading
