Bringing you along on a morning walk with the dogs. Every morning we head out somewhere between 5 and 5:45 a.m. and walk 45 minutes to an hour depending on the day. We make a loop around the property. Our walk takes us past the same view from several different... Continue reading

They do resemble a turkey but these are grey headed chachalacas. The flock was here the other morning drying out after a night of rain. Continue reading

Hello Monday! A flock of a dozen or so white fronted parrots greeted me as I approached the house after our morning walk. Parrots and parakeets seem to be around the house all the time now. The squeeks and squaks as they fly around are easily recognizable. Continue reading

My pleasure Joseph, con mucho gusto. These shots are just a sampling from my home, the past week or so. So much beauty to be seen in all parts of the country!

It's not uncommon this time of year to spot rainbows. You might have to get up early to catch one though. This one was captured around 6am on my morning walk. A wonderful surprise as I headed back up a hill. If you look closely you can see the second... Continue reading

I agree Joseph, sloths do look so peaceful and gentle. Id love to cuddle the baby but have to respect nature. Weve been blessed to have them around I cant do anything to upset the natural balance. Trust me its harder than it sounds. Personally, Id love nothing more than to go sit up in a tree with mom and baby!

Summertime in Costa Rica brings these beautiful blue skies. During the transition period, this time of year, we get the contrast with the clouds and lush green landscape. As the summer or dry season continues the greens start to dull. Where we are its pretty much always green just a different shade of green. ALWAYS beautiful!!!

The local museum always has something going on. Today it was Festival gastronómico. It ties in with Dia de las culturas, what people in the U.S. celebrate as Columbus Day. Last year hubby and I went to an event at the Cultural Center so this year I decided to see... Continue reading

We've been getting brilliant sunshine early in the morning for the past few days. It's been awesome. The shot above was taken around 6am. Hubby has started to join the dogs and I outside for coffee and a dose of vitamin D. Yesterday he commented on his tan line. Too... Continue reading

Thanks for the ID on the spider Paul. You always surprise me with your wealth of knowledge! The only thing this spider had to worry about crashing through his web was the dogs as it was down low to the ground. He did a good job, they avoided it!

These mini orchids were collected from the recently cut bushes. An unexpected, small reward for my labor. Yesterday I soaked güitite branches in water to make sure they were nice and moist to mount the mini orchids. This morning the tiny orchids were mounted with some moss also collected from... Last night I mentioned to hubby that I hadn't seen an oriole yet. He happened to be watching the Baltimore Orioles in the playoffs. We figured maybe they were waiting to see how their team did before leaving for the winter. Hubby told me this morning the baseball team won... Continue reading

Yeah, the froggies are fun Joseph. We used to have scorpions frequently when we first moved into this house. With regular spraying we dont see them anymore. Thats not to say one doesnt sneak in from time to time. I had one crawl in bed with me and sting my finger. They are unwelcome visitors! I imagine the venomous spiders and kissing bugs (whatever they are) probably dont get passed the bi-annual spraying.

With Bill and Callista off on their adventure to Panama I got to enjoy some alone time at the house. Sometimes you only think you're alone. In the restroom the other morning I kept hearing a strange sound. Then all of a sudden something jumped out from under the inflatable... Continue reading
